"May 2022 update: In light of recent food safety incidents (which have been publicly documented), my previous experience at this restaurant now makes perfect sense. Avoid the poorly prepared fish here to prevent food poisoning. Good luck if you decide to take the risk! Original review from November 2021: I ordered sushi from Soseki twice and it was decent. However, when I picked it up again recently, the quality of the fish was terrible. It was tough and seemed to be of low quality, poorly stored, or not fresh. I didn't feel well after eating it and was worried I might get food poisoning, but thankfully that didn't happen. We will not be returning to Soseki."

this place crafts phenomenal sushi and poke bowl! hands down the best place for sushi and Asian cuisine in iowa city. the service is wonderful, the staff is always very friendly and friendly.

The food was flavorful and the staff was friendly. The only downside is the parking situation, as you have to park in the garage across the street. However, the first hour is free, which is a nice perk.

Excellent staff. The food was excellent but the atmosphere leaves s little to be desired. Lots of inventory sitting around the restaurant. Did have a water problem in the building, so that may have been the issue. Definitely will try again.

this place is absolutely incredible. my date and I were very impressed by the quality of food, presentation and total life. I have a poke bowl and a sushi burrito, both were delicious. I also tried the takoyaki and that's the best I had so far. it was cooked properly and had great taste. it is hard to get takoyaki right, but they hit the nail on the head. They also have a mini convenience area where they can get snacks and drinks. I really recommend to give this restaurant an attempt! park is also super easy, it is directly at a park ramp.
