"We love great food and great spaces. After seeing the plates in photos online, We thought we would try Botanica. Loved the vibe. But not all the food was good. We ordered the fruit bowl described as the “prettiest fruit”. Dry berries and bland options. Felt like I was getting a hand full of fruit from the fridge. The soft scramble was basically runny eggs. I thought they would make legit a soft scramble dish. The gee cooked banana ginger bread slice things were yummy and so was the basil lemonade. The latte’s espresso was so bold it just tasted like double the amount of espresso for a balanced drink. Defiantly don’t recommend this unless you like that cray crack coffee I loved as a teen. I prefer a great pulled shot on ice and a splash of milk. This wasn’t it. As bad as the options we picked. There were defiantly some good notes there to make us possibly return to give it another shot. The cod sounded good. Will skip the coffee and fruit bowl next time."

Food quality was uneven. Red wines too fruity. No earthy, robust choices.

I ordered the black cod and it was really well seasoned! Also they’ve got the best oatmeal cookie ever! Loved it! View menu

I loved botanica my first visit bc of the fresh green menu, but the service was pretty slow. I just went back and wow. we couldn't get anyone to our table!

Honestly. I thought this was too expensive for what I got. the dates were dry and tasted like they were old. the $26 vegetarian meal I got had mushrooms in him and it was not good. I wouldn't come back and wouldn't give it back to anyone.

we went for two birthdays that celebrate together. there were seven of us and it was funny. the food was really delicious, although my dish was maybe a little bit salty for my taste. also the cocktails were great, especially the strawberry. we sat inside, but there is also an outside terrace in the back. I love botanica, it is such a special restaurant with super fresh, innovative cuisine that is constantly intrigue and always satisfied. Moreover, the ambiente is great, something I am generally very sensitive in the restaurants. they have both inside and outside seats (yes! both areas are super sweet, comfortable, have great lighting, and allow them to listen to their evening dinner talk. the outside seats are located in a back terrace that feels very far from the road, cars and city activities. this is fast my favorite go-to for special occasions or really any kind of outing!

I am heartbroken that Botanica went from out of this world to mediocre in such a short period of time. It was so amazing and lovely when it opening. Last time I ate here I was treated so poorly they ended up comping ALL of our alcohol. The experience left a bad taste in my mouth but excused it as a random negative experience. Went back for dinner on Wednesday and was completely shocked by the portion sizes. Things had literally shrunken by over 50% with the same price tag. The tartine used to be a hearty serving that could be shared; Wednesday night the toast that arrived at our table was about 3” square — completely laughable. Fattoush y salad was tiny and the carrots, though the same dish,...

"We visited the Los Alamitos location this trip for late lunch, early dinner. My husband got an All American Beach Melt. It was a full pound cheeseburger on grilled Parmesan Sour Dough. He was delightfully overwhelmed! I decided to try the prime rib dinner because the prime rib dip is out of this world! I was extremely disappointed! The meat was cold and flavorless. The aujus again had no flavor. The creamy horseradish could have been sour cream, and it has absolutely no flavor at all, no zing. Our waitress was sweet but disappointing. All of our food came to the table at the same time. Our appetizer actually arrived after our entree plates. Our waitress did a vanishing act. She did not once return to the table. Our water and tea cups sat empty throughout our meal. Other servers took care of the tables to our right, and to our left, we remained completely ignored. After finishing our meals, we sat for about 15 20 minutes with my husband, trying to get anyone to pay attention to even our empty glasses. Finally, it appeared to be someone in management who asked if we were waiting for boxes. My husband told her we 'd like a check AND boxes so we can leave. She brought our check and 3 boxes, no questions or comments. My husband paid in cash, and she said, I 'll see you next time. He commented. There won 't be a next time. We enjoy the Foothill Ranch location, a much friendlier environment. Today 's lesson learned is that it was not a good idea to order steak at a sandwich shop."

"Our first visit to the restaurant last night came highly recommended, thanks to a friend's glowing review of their vegan menu. We were pretty excited and ordered two vegan meatball subs. The trouble began when we waited for nearly 25 minutes after placing our order. Our server, a guy named Ryan (I think), came over and told us they were all out of vegan meatballs. Naturally, we asked why it took so long for them to figure this out, which seemed to fluster poor Ryan a bit. However, he was polite throughout the conversation. We decided to switch our order to one regular meatball sub and a vegan eggplant sub, thinking all was well. But, surprise, surprise, Ryan returned a few minutes later to tell us they were also out of eggplant. At this point, we had been waiting for almost 40 minutes with no food in sight, so we asked for the check to pay for the soda my husband had been nursing. Here's why the whole experience left a sour taste in our mouths: 1. Why in the world didn't the waitstaff know about these shortages in advance? It seems like basic communication within the restaurant was seriously lacking. Customers shouldn't be left hanging, wondering if they'll actually get what they ordered. 2. It's kind of baffling that Ryan was left to break the bad news not just once, but twice. You'd think the manager, who we saw chatting with other diners just a few feet away, would have taken the initiative to come over and speak to us directly. 3. I was made to feel like I should be really grateful they decided not to charge us for the Diet Coke my husband drank. Overall it was a terrible experience and no effort was made to rectify what happened. I obviously cannot comment on the food since we never recieved any. As for customer service...HORRIBLE!"
