"Donut Drive... In is undoubtedly the best donut shop in St. Louis, don't believe me. Read what Alton Brown said from the food network: St. Louis locals love the Donut Drive-In, which won the choice for the best donuts on Route 66. Alton discovered that the same family recipes from the early 1950s are still used for the popular chocolate Long John and cinnamon rolls. This is down the road from my house and I have gone there for 25 years, even if relatives come to the city, this donut shop is the first search during the stay with me. My selection consists of the best glazed donut that melts in your mouth, the old fashion that is perfectly tasteful, the vanilla or chocolate custard filled, the chocolate glazed cakes donut, cinnamon rolls are so soft, and the cinnamon together with glaze is so delicious, the glazed lemon filled melts in your mouth, and the filling is not its just right. Now the doughnuts are so good, my mother could only afford doughnut holes when we were little tykes and make memorable. The chocolate cake Glazed Donut holes ate my favorite snack donuts, the glazed donut holes are as huge as the donut. If you like swirls, cinnamon or glazed, this is a must try. Can't forget the favorite of my little brother the best apple fritter and believe me that he has tried all around the city and nobody compare size wise or tasteful. Then, in order to complete it, you can preorder for the next morning pickup in your box outside as long as you preorder your order at 4pm in the night. There is always a line around the building every day that should tell you how popular this donut shop is really in the neighborhood. Staff are friendly and welcome every day with a smile for everyone. Prices are reasonable, along with the elections bring a lot. If you're in St.Louis, you'll have to look by and get fresh donuts every day. You can't miss this local business. Support your local family businesses so that we can keep them and their families in our community by traditions."

I visited during Easter and tried the donuts, which were absolutely incredible. Everyone loved them, from kids to adults. The caramel and bow tie donuts were fantastic, as well as the bunny-shaped ones.

Amazing donuts and great staff. It's a tiny place with a big selection try the caramel pecan cake donut!! The line is out the door on the weekends (mostly because only 2 customers can fit inside at one time), but they move fast and it's well worth the wait.

Tried this shop and another highly rated donut shop in STL, this was by far better. My only critique is that I asked for an old fashioned and what I got was definitely not that; however, it wasn’t bad. Just wasn’t quite a donut. Also got two frosted raised donuts which were the perfect density and tasted great View menu

We got there at almost 11pm and there was a big crew inside working hard on the donuts! We got a big box of donuts to share with the family. The Apple Fritters are THE BEST EVER. If you go anytime after 9pm they are warm and fresh. The ambiance is purely functional but the outside totally reminds me of a place I'd hang outside of and chat with the locals.

I've been here a couple times and love it! It is open for super long hours which is so convenient! It also doesn't seem to matter when you go as the donuts I have gotten have always tasted very fresh and have a very nice texture to them! They have a good variety of options and all that I've tried have been so good! Just note that it seems to be more of a pick up and go type place as there is no seating and is a pretty small building.

I absolutely adore Donut Drive-In. The shop is quite small, but the donuts are incredibly charming. They frequently feature delightful designs that reflect the current season or holiday (check out the flower design in the picture below). Not only are the donuts visually appealing, but they also taste fantastic. My personal favorites are the chocolate and vanilla long johns, as well as the classic glazed. You really can't miss with any of them. Another significant advantage is their extended hours. So, if you're craving a donut at an unusual time, Donut Drive-In is definitely the place to be. My father shared his dear memories of visiting Donut Drive-In with his mother during his childhood, and I am happy to have created my own memories here in my whole history! My eight-year-old mathematician has always swung over Donut Drive-In to our class, and I remember that she brings us boxes of Donuts from here to try one day. I'll never forget it! Everybody loves Donut Drive-in! Staff are very efficient, friendly and helpful. The store itself is super tiny, but her place gets the job done! They offer a variety of flavors, and the donuts themselves are always extremely fresh and soft. Donut Drive-In never creates an unforgettable experience.

Yesterday, Saturday, I arrived around 9:30 AM, and one staff member informed us that they would be open until 12:30 PM. With that information, my boyfriend and I decided to do some last-minute shopping. However, when we returned at 11:54 AM, we found the doors closed, and the staff said they were no longer serving customers. I was taken aback, especially since I had been told they would be open until 12:30. The most frustrating part was that my boyfriend was only in town for 24 hours, having arrived Friday night and leaving Sunday morning. He explained that he was just visiting and asked if we could quickly place an order, but a young employee shouted from behind the glass that it was all...

"My boyfriend and I came to this place during our visit to St. Louis after reading rave reviews about it online. We went in well-dressed and excited with high expectations, but unfortunately were left feeling extremely disappointed and underwhelmed. Dining at the restaurant definitely taught us a lot about the ozark history. I have a lot of respect for the time and enthusiasm the owner put into researching the history, arranging youtube videos, and conveying this information to the guests. His concerns about the environment and zero-waste efforts are also very laudable. His direct interactions with all of the guests and attempts to answer questions were refreshing. The food, however, was very lacking and mediocre. The concept of watching your food being made is fun and exciting. Understandably, they can’t make everything and plenty is prepared in advance. Except they really didn’t seem to make much of anything at all. A few grilled mushrooms here, and a delicate but also pompous plating there and that’s it. I know there’s probably a kitchen in the back and they work throughout the day as most kitchens do, but this gaudy element of pseudo showmanship missed a serious mark. Again, that’s fine. It’s an aesthetic and part of the bulrush experience. What annoys me is the price tag and the faint whiff of haughtiness that comes with it. The kitchen hands also looked apathetic, disinterested, and lacked focus. They didn’t look like professional chefs, just professional food assemblers. I did not trust that they knew to prepare food properly and that was evident in what was eventually served. The food was either too plain, too sour, too salty, or overall a very big disappointment. The steak had so many big chunks of fat in it that I was only able to eat about half of it. The poissants were cute but definitely not something I would pay that much money for, especially given that there were only about two small pieces of it on our plates. The beets, brussel sprouts, asparagus, fried onions that we were served, I can find and reproduce in my own kitchen. For the amount of money we paid, I expected a lot more flavor, unique ingredients, and creativity. I asked the owner why Ozark and he admitted it was an entrepreneurial strategy to stand out. He loved to repeat to our audience that night that “no one else” is doing it! Well when you taste the food you can kinda see why? I can’t deny though that the chefs know how to make something look appetizing in pictures. That’s what initially attracted us to the restaurant. The pretty platings and colorfully spectacular arrangements were what got us in the door. The experience has been worth it in the sense that for all that we paid for, we got a good lesson to not eat with our eyes, and a funny story to tell our friends back at home."
