"A buddy and I had a taste for something different and we struck gold! First, the Empanada House was not easy to find. Not because it 's out of the way but because of some challenges the owner has with signage. It 's upstairs inside another restaurant with prominent signage (Sweet Octopus). But the point is, the empanadas are fantastic! If you 've not had one, it 's a bit like a Cuban calzone, but smaller. They have a choice of five entree empanadas (pulled pork, beef, chicken, pepperoni and Korean BBQ) along with two or three dessert empanadas. The pulled pork and Korean BBQ were delicious! Flaky crust and plenty of tender and flavorful stuffing. Not spicy, just tasty. A big eater might eat three but two were plenty for me. We finished lunch with an apple empanada which was fantastic, like a mini Cuban apple pie in a flaky empanada crust. Not a lot of sides on the menu. They 're not needed and the owner chooses to focus on the empanadas, and it shows. They serve plenty of unique beverages from soft drinks to fruit teas, and the very gracious and pleasant owner gave us a taste of their sake infused mango and strawberry frozen drinks which were equally delicious. Had it not been lunchtime, one would definitely have been an accompaniment to the best empanadas I 've had. The atmosphere is very comfortable and casual. There 's plenty of seating inside and two very nice balconies with counter type seating overlooking all the Duluth square action. Do yourself a favor while you 're in the square, or just take a ride as we did. Skip the standard bar food and overrated BBQ and try The Empanada House. You 'll be going back as we definitely will. Love this place. It has a great view of the Duluth park the empanadas and the arepa de chocolo was amazing. The juice and boba tea on point. Highly recommend.

I absolutely loved this place. We had a hard time finding it because you have to go into Sweet Octopus and make your way upstairs. The BBQ empanada was the bomb. And I had a black tea with milk which was perfectly balanced, not too sweet, not bitter. This spot is a gem!

Absolutely love the vegan empanada they have here. Vegetarian friendly options. The boba is okay, not the best. Just wanted to state that Empanadas are NOT a Korean dish… as stated by another user. Bulgogi is a type of Korean meat dish, but an empanada is a Mexican dish.. not the same.

The empanadas are delicious. However, avoid this place around 4-6 on a weekday as it becomes overrun with middle schoolers from the nearby school just hanging out and running around. The staff looked like they were about to lose their minds over it. We did not want to stay and eat because of it so we got our food to go both times we have been there. View menu

Soooo delicious. Took my husband here for his pre-Birthday Lunch! It was better than expected, boba was not overly sweet and tasted exceptionally. Get the Thai or Caramel, oooohhhh!!! For the empanadas the Bulgogi, chicken, and Gullosh, all 3 started their own party in my mouth. I was in the area, and can’t wait to come to Duluth to eat here again!!!

I love this place. On top of the tasty empanadas, the customer service has always been excellent. I’ve been coming here a little over one year and everything is consistent. I’m glad they cater, I plan on having the best options at every event I’m involved in. I can’t wait to add these empanadas to the table.Parking: Lots of free public parking. They also have a few 15 minutes spots directly in front of the place.
