"I must do my due diligence here. My SO has severe Ulcerative Colitis, and has to eat a gluten-free diet to reduce the inflammation. Living in Murray, options are very limited. Googling gluten free Paducah Ky resulted in Branch Out showing up first. I am NOT a gluten-free eater myself. Typical omnivore, so gluten-free and vegan restaurants aren 't in my wheelhouse. I did some extensive research and diving into the reviews, menu, atmosphere, etc. I came off impressed and intrigued. I sent them a message on FB asking a couple questions (hours before they opened and the owner read replied within minutes. Super informative, very accommodating. When we got there, the owner happened to be working the front counter. She very meticulously explained the ingredients in the dishes we were interested in, without even asking! My girl got the Mac Cheese, and 2 falafels, which they made without frying for her specifically. I ordered the Carne Asada tacos and chips salsa, a caramel apple cookie, smores cupcake, and carrot cake cupcake. The presentation was fantastic; the care put into the preparation is evident. I tried her Mac Cheese and it tasted fantastic! The salsa for my chips and salsa was fresh, a little cilantro heavy, but delicious. I added some Cholula (spelling? Hot sauce to kick it up a notch. The tortilla chips were likely bought, but they were fresh! Next, the carne asada tacos: flavor-FULL!! A lot of fresh flavors, and the faux meat, whatever it is, it tasted like steak! If you didn 't see it or know ahead of time, you could pass them off as the real deal. The soft shell tasted like a regular homemade corn tortilla. I ate every bite. Last but not least, the desserts: all very appealing, and the flavors can compete with normal made desserts. You MUST try the carrot cake cupcakes if you 're a carrot cake fan. Sinfully good. The smores cupcake was rich, but not overbearing in the least. If I had to rank, the caramel apple cookie was #3. I enjoyed it, but done over again, I would 've gotten a 3rd cupcake. And no, I didn 't eat all the sweets in the same sitting!! I did try half of them all before I left. The staff was great, the owner was super accommodating, the food was well above my very skeptical intrigued expectations, the bathrooms were clean, the atmosphere was open and sleek, and the prices were very fair. I am extremely grateful to offer my significant other a worry-free dining experience. I highly recommend this restaurant for those that have to miss out on normal food on a daily basis; they will be grateful too. Parking: Small lot in front; more parking in back (a little walk ."

"My wife and I live right outside Nashville, TN in Mount Juliet. We love our little adopted hometown, but it 's a real restaurant void, where fine dining comes to die. 99% of our dining out options are corporate chain restaurants. Blech. No thanks. When we learned that my parents in Mayfield, KY were wanting to try out The Freight House, we decided that it 'd be a great place to celebrate my Dad 's birthday, so off we went. You can tell upon entering that this place is the real deal. If you walk in and feel a brush with greatness coming on, you 'd be correct. The service was top shelf from the moment we walked in until we walked out after supper. It was a Thursday night 5:00pm reservation so the place wasn 't too crowded. It was clear due to all the hard surfaces and high ceilings that the noise levels probably get a little intense during a full house. Not really a complaint, just an observation. My father is hearing impaired and these kinds of acoustics can be problematic for him, but he handled it like a champ. We ordered the PB J Meatballs and the Fish Dip for the table. We learned a little later that there was some kind of problem with the meatballs and they were temporarily unavailable. Our disappointment at this news must have been palpable, because a few minutes later we were served our order of meatballs AND they were on the house! My Mom had a glass of Chardonnay, my wife had the Juicebox mocktail, my Dad had Iced Tea and I had two Reyka Vodka Tonics which were a heavy pour that was much appreciated. We all opted for the Shrimp Grits which was an excellent choice. The shrimp were large, plentiful, cooked perfectly and the tails had been removed. So many places serve Shrimp Grits with the tails on which is a lazy kitchen move and a real pain at the table. The grits were smooth and creamy and the sauce was easily mopped with their amazing cornbread. We wanted dessert but were all too stuffed to order any. Our server Kyle, should give a Ted Talk on his weapons grade server skills. He was there when we needed him, invisible when we didn 't and was a fountain of information on the entire menu. He also had a great sense of humor which is key to survival on Earth, right? Our bill came to right at $200, so with a well-deserved 25% tip, it was $250 out the door and worth every penny. We 'll definitely be back! BTW: Sorry for the lack of food pics, I 've never mastered the art of taking pics while constantly going Nom!Nom!Nom!"
