"House Special Beef. Happy China is a a Chinese buffet were the food turns over fast and it just outstanding. Lee and Jenny Pa the owners are always on sight and meet you as you walk in. To comment on a whole buffet is impossible but I am going to give a few observations. One they use fresh vegetables not canned or frozen. They make their own Crab Rangoon. Lee uses the best meats and fish and fowl he can find. My favorite dish is the house special beef. It is seasoned to perfection and the vegetables are crisp and tasty. The one down side is there are very little deserts. Personally I don't care still hungry get one of their egg rolls. I think the other thing that separates this place from the others are the home made noodles and sauces. Lee is very proud of the sauces he makes and he should be they are great"

Today my lady and I decided to give Happy China another shot after a lackluster experience last time we visited.

Happy China Happy Belly!!! Fav Chinese in the St Louis area. Not your ave buffet, clean but homestyle feel. Mr Pa (owner) goes out of his way to greet customers. Authentic Chinese food and seasonings... Very flavorful!!! View menu

Delicious Food. It has been several months since we were there. But every time we went, I was impressed with the taste and selection of their dishes. The owner is friendly, informative and has a funny sense of humor. The seating is comfortable, but the decor is very ugly and outdated. It ruins my dining experience. Therefore, 9x out of 10, I have chosen other places to eat.

Favourite buffet. Mostly you don't find a good meal at the buffet. This place is different. You have many unique items that you do not see in other Chinese restaurants. The food is usually fresh and hot....not always, but more often than most of the buffets I had. If the owner goes at your table with a fresh pot of jasmine rice, do not refuse a sample because it is exquisite!

As a long-term fan of Happy China, my heart broke to see how the place is going downhill apparently no return until the point. The previous posts record the overwhelming negative experience well; but I am pleased to report that Happy China, which we all knew and loved, is back! The new and responsive owners cleaned the place up, fixed the A/C and consistently delivered fresh hot foods prepared with the original recipes that made Happy China St. Louis Favorit. Try to be happy. View menu

A good place to hang in there. Once you enter this place, you would notice that it has probably seen better days. The smell, yeah, the smell... if you were in one of the old cinemas, you know what I'm talking about. With new Chinese buffets that dive like crazy, Happy China is now back in many aspects, especially in the variety of dishes. However, this family-run restaurant can offer a friendly service. The shrimps are HUGH; totally worth the costs if I only eat them and nothing else.

The Pa 's are cheerful and friendly people. Miss Jenny knows my favorites and makes sure I get them hot and fresh. Mr. Lee is always smiling. I love it when he comes out of the kitchen with a pan of his freshly made special rice and comes by tables giving large portions onto my plate. I have been going to Happy China since it opened, a testament to the quality and freshness! My favorites are crab rangoon, bbq ribs, sweet corn fritter nuggets (only on evening buffet), and House Special Beef. I lover it. have to get my fix once every week our so. Mr. Pa is a good and caring man and shares what he has with those who otherwise might not have any meals. Keep up the great cooking and thank you for...

"Highlights: great boneless wings, house-cut fries and sweet tea. The shrimp is lightly breaded, lacking seasoning and not crispy. I feel that the shrimp poboy 6pc)$15 is overpriced for the quality and taste. I can spend less and get a much tastier shrimp poboy that comes with tomatoes and a hot side for a lower price elsewhere. ... It was our first time at Shuckers on a Friday night at 6:45pm. There are maybe 50 tables and probably 75% seated. Before we came we looked on their website for the menu. We walked in and were immediately seated by our server who served drinks right away. My partner's sweet tea $2.99) was excellent, not too sweet. I always order water but the water here had a bad aftertaste. We ordered Appetizers: boneless wings $6.99 6pc)and fried cheese sticks $7.99. The cheese sticks were not hot and gooey where the hot cheese stretches after you take a bite Try the best ones at Redline Diner). The boneless wings were great, perfectly crispy. I tried the shuck'n hot wing flavor which was mild to medium spicy and sweet, no vinegar taste. The ranch dip is house made but not as good as most house-made ranch. My entree was a shrimp poboy $14.99). There were 6 medium shrimp that were lightly breaded and not crispy, and not seasoned enough. It was topped with shredded lettuce and sweet tartar sauce not remoulade as stated in the menu). It would have been better with tomatoes. It came with kettle potato chips or sub fries for $2 more). My partner ordered the shrimp dinner $17.99 9pc medium) with side salad shredded lettuce, cucumber, tomato, onion), 2 hushpuppies and house-cut fries that are not crispy but delicious. These shrimp were the same that were on my poboy and my partner agreed that they were disappointing. I feel that the shrimp poboy is way overpriced for the quality and taste of the food. I can spend less and get a much tastier shrimp poboy that comes with tomatoes and a hot side for a lower price Try Tricky Fish). We had a great server. We plan to come back to try the stuffed shells, fried zucchini and chili cheese fries, and the brunch menu on Saturday. We didn't have dessert but in addition to the desserts listed they also have regular and pumpkin cheesecake"
