"This is my second time going to a restaurant with a tasting menu. My first, Restaurant Eugene in Atlanta and the bar was set pretty high. Restaurant Gwendolyn is a very small and intimate restaurant. I believe there were only 7 tables. I did not like the fact that our table was so close to another table. I was also not very impressed with the seating accommodations. The chairs were small and wooden and the tables were small as well. There was not enough room on our table for our bottle of wine, appetizers, silverware, bread, etc. Speaking of bread, it was amazing! I was pleased to learn it was Gwendolyn's recipe that was still being used. I also loved that everything in the restaurant was locally sourced. Overall, the food was delicious! Our party had an amazing time and I would definitely go again."

We had the most beautiful meal here over the weekend to celebrate our engagement. The food was carefully curated and abundant, the wine pairings spot on, and the service unmatched. I would recommend it to anyone looking to celebrate a special night out in San Antonio.

Absolutely fresh, with every bit of the bite is thought about. We had the 5 course with wine pairing and it was some of the most fun we have had in a long time. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable and it is clear the chef knows what he is doing. We love watching Top Chef and it immediately felt like we were eating in the finally.

Food was below average in my opinion. Service was excellent. Broccoli salad had bad pieces in it, beef was mushy, potatoes under cooked. Fish was very fishy tasting and not appetizing. Pumpkin soup and bread was good. Just didn't like most of it and when spending 200.00 I expect to be thrilled. In comparison I have ate at Bliss three times and loved it every time. View menu

This is a hard restaurant to rate. The concept of sustainable, farm to table is not new, but Chef Michael is adding eclectic to the mix. However, his menu is small, his 7 step chef's tasting menu misleading, and the menu itself suffers from not being thematically consist. I found the food mostly tasteless and without soul. And grossly over priced and pretentious. The restaurant is tiny, so make a reservation.

So service was great, wine was great, food was very average. Just didn't do it for me. Wasn't bad but when you spend 200.00+ for two you want it fantastic. Pumpkin soup was very good but about 1/4 inch in bowl, enough for just a taste. Bread and butter was top of the line. Broccoli salad had a lot of bad looking broccoli in it. Main course was mushy beef with under cooked potatoes. Wouldn't go back, wouldn't recommend.

We have been to Gwendolyn a few times now and everything is incredible, every single time. My wife and I enjoy the five course with wine pairing and, for us, coming here is a visceral feeling that goes beyond just eating food. We enjoy making opposite courses from the five course so we can taste each other's food with the wine selection. I would encourage anyone to that comes here to try something you would not normally choose on a menu, I am always surprised by what I like when it is prepared by genius. View menu

This place has a beautiful concept of sharing, as two diverse cuisines are cooked under one kitchen. Their sharing concept is implemented on their shareable plates and invites for a great atmosphere. The music is usually upbeat and casual so it's a greats place to have drinks, share a plate of fresh charred edamame or enjoy a steaming bowl of? ramen. You can also sit in the other side of the establishment which is dedicated to the upscale hearty Europe cuisine with sexy delicate chocolate desserts, charr-marked pound cake, and lush wines.

Never ate at 5 points.
