"After reading reviews on TripAdvisor and other sites we decided on Le Gladstone for dinner. Long and the short of it, we were very disappointed. For appetizers we had the octopus carpacchio and a Caesar salad. Tell octopus was very good. The Caesar however was very disappointing. There were way to many croutons and the dressing was too hot...not a traditional Caesar dressing at all. For main courses, we had the special, which was a whole baked snapper, and a small filet mignon. The snapper was tasteless and a little underdone...the baked squash that came with it was very good. My tenderloin was good, however the frites were not great. I was a little surprised that a ketchup bottle was put on the table. When you have a wine list with bottles for $3000, ketchup should be served in a bowl. Dessert and coffee were ok. Service was a little uncomfortable. I don't think there was much experience. Overall we were very disappointed. For $200+ we could have done much better somewhere else."

Friendly, accommodating and delicious. Three words to sum up our experience at Gladstone in Montreal.

Nice ambiance and service. Food was good, but kind of expensive. The lobster soup was pretty good, and the hamburger too. 4 or 5 taps of beer.

The service was great, 3 out of 4 meals were very good. My mussels dish was highly average...not worth ordering again. Will be a while til we go here again. View menu

Le Gladstone is a bit out of the main part of Montreal and seems like it caters to a bit more of a local crowd. The menu was very much similar to a high end pub- very good but a bit uninspired. Very friendly staff and nice atmosphere. They were very accommodating for a large group- and didn't rush us through our meal at all. Would recommend for a low key, slightly off the beaten path restaurant.

Who'da thunk: In staid old Westmount, where Greene meets Ste-Catherine, there's this noisy, funky, fun bar-resto with terrific food and a lively scene. Lots of regulars it seemed like.-a good sign.Wonderful green starter salads, a delicious burger ($22) and what was reported to be an equally scrumptious magret de canard ($32), plus a third-of-a-bottle of California Shiraz.($18). A great spot for friends to get together.

The food and dessert were good. The ribs are a safe bet. The service was good. I gathered there with friends during the late summer on their sidewalk Terrasse. It has a great after work, chill, sort of vibe that is a nice step up from the way too many "dive bars on purpose" that keep popping up. They're going for a more relaxed refinement. Where they fell short was with the drinks. Perhaps it was the summer staff, but whoever was at the bar couldn't mix a drink to save their life. Also a friend had ordered "a glass" of wine, but because the restaurant had to open a new bottle, they charged her for the entire bottle! That was very shady and they didn't mention that she would be charged for th... View menu

We were dining unfashionably early (7pm curtain), but kitchen and staff were ready to go. Genia, our charming and efficient server, set us up with 6 oysters and a bottle of Alsace wine. Attention to detail immediately apparent - instead of bottled horseradish, the kitchen served it freshly grated which nicely balanced the oyster liquid.we shared a huge grilled dorade, lovely and fresh, needing only a squirt of lemon. It came with grated cabbage and carrot in a creamy dressing and fried plantain. Pricy -$135 with tip - but worth it for a special occasion when you want smooth, friendly service and excellent food. Dining room is spacious with high ceilings. Music was quiet jazz which allowed co...

I have visited before and was only mildly impressed with the burgers. However this time I ordered, what was probably, their special of the week as it was listed on a label at the top of the menu. It was Brandade de Morue in the style of Gladstone. I love Brandade and so when she explained the cooking method which is far from traditional, I was apprehensive but took a chance on it anyway. Did I ever make the right choice...it was wonderful, one of those rare dishes that you think about the next day. My only criticism of the restaurant, and this is my own personal annoyance- they ask you to taste the wine when it is from a screw top bottle! I guess people like the whole performance, but the wi...

"Made reservations for my husbands 80th Birthday, which we mentions upon making the reservations. We arrived, the hostess said table is ready, stated 80th. birthday, she said someone hit the wrong key 89. The 4 of us were seated, and there was a used wine glass on our table. Ordered 4 cocktails from the bar. Bread brought to the table, I asked once again for the glass to be removed, the man removed it. We ordered appetizers, the 4th person wanted shrimp cocktail, he did not hear her. Our appetizers arrived first, no drinks. We were half was through our appetizers when the drinks arrived. We ordered soup, shrimp lobster bisque, it was okay. We placed orders for the entrees. My husband ordered swordfish, it was dry and the side vegetable was hard not cooked enough. One of our party asked for steaksauce, they did not have that. I had Lambchops, they were good, but the vegetable was hard not cooked enough. My husband had a taste for a Brandy Alexander, no blender. We shared ice cream and brandy on top. Bill was $480.50. No mention of birthday, no special dish! Our waiter, mention that they had 75 people cancel and they were sending staff home early. Also, he mentioned he was a bartender. I mentioned to the hostess what happened about the special occasion, she said oh I can call the manager. I said no because we will not be returning. We live 5 minutes from Indiana, that is quite a distance to travel."
