"The food here is excellent, but it's quite pricey for a café. They've increased their prices since the pandemic; it used to be a place where you could grab a tasty snack. While the quality remains high, the prices now reflect those of a fine dining establishment. For instance, the pasta dishes cost as much as you would find at an upscale Italian restaurant with white tablecloths. I ordered a ham and cheese crepe along with a bowl of soup, and the total came to $35 with tax and tip included. Additionally, they add a 4% surcharge for credit card payments, which they refer to as a convenience fee."

Great food but slow service, this place had open kitchen at 4pm while all the other restaurants were closed

I personally did not find it the most sanitary. The plates and utensils had smudges and did not feel the cleanest. The bread also had a dead mosquitoe in it? And this might not be entirely their fault but when I sat outside there was no shade and was super hot. The table also looks run down and overall I didn’t feel comfortable with the experience. This is a cozy and intimate neighborhood French bistro. I appreciate seeing people feel comfortable enough to dine alone. The meal was excellent, and the service was charming. However, be prepared to leave smelling like the dishes they've prepared due to limited ventilation. Additionally, the bathroom could use some renovation and better maintenance.

The food was okay, the place was nice, nothing amazing but nice. Nevertheless they had a real problem with the service. It took 15minutes just for then to give us the menu, another 15 for them to take the orders. After waiting a long time, they brought us the wrong order, and it had to be returned. When we order the check they brought us someone else's check. Maybe we just had bad luck, but I don't think I'll be coming back to find out.

During my time living in NYC, this restaurant was my favorite spot for brunch on the weekends or after a long night shift at the hospital. Now that I've moved away, I had to come back for breakfast as my first stop. Chef J was fantastic, and the food was, as always, amazing. The server could have been a bit more friendly, but overall, if you’re ever in the area, I highly recommend stopping by for some fresh, delicious food and a nice big latte. View menu

A favorite no more. 3 strikes and you're out. Greed, and abysmal service. Did Grainne change ownership in the last 5/6 years or so? We've been going to Grainne Cafe for decades (back when it was Le Grainne) and always liked it, always brought out-of-town guests here. The food is still decent, but service has gone downhill in recent years (not just post-pandemic). On top of their very high prices (even for NYC, and before “supply chain” issues. For heaven's sake, it's crepes, not steak), they ad … – show

Outdoor dining they (my friends) said, it would be great they said. So we did. And the weather was conducive for outdoor dining on a perfect Sunday autumn afternoon. Unfortunately our Sunday brunch was marred by one issue – the potent aroma of urine that wafted across our table every now and then was enough to spoil an otherwise enjoyable meal. Jokes aside, what would you expect from a 9th Ave Chelsea restaurant with limited indoor seating. With regards to food, we ordered: Nutella Banana Crepe … – show
