"Long Life Vegi House  1725 University Ave./McGee Ave., (510) 845-6072.  L-D W-M: .  This inexpensive Chinese restaurant moved recently from its location close to the campus to a farther away but spacious new spot with big windows to the street.  It features many dishes with mock meats but also has a lengthy menu of real seafood dishes.  Portions are huge, and zucchini is a favorite filler--and good for you.  Vegetarian items include vegi-pork and vegi-chicken with spicy garlic sauce, sweet-and-sour fried tofu, steamed taro buns, scallion pancakes, and orange chicken.  My personal favorites are sweet-and-sour pork, and eggplant and tofu with spicy garlic sauce.  The bargain 6.99 lunch special includes a bowl of hot and sour soup, a spring roll, and brown rice.  Ask for the good chili sauce, which they keep in the back."

Service can be slow, but the food is worth waiting. Next thing I've eaten in Thailand. My best choice is the spicy sea food chow fun. To die.

Very friendly staff. Food is always fresh and delicious. Whenever I call my order in, she knows my voice and what I want. This is the only place I like to go for my veggie fried rice with NO mushroom View menu

I am 3 weeks into a plant based diet, this place is has so many options. The food was delicious and flavorful, the service was fast and the staff were very friendly and know their menu well. Definitely coming back here again!

It is difficult to spot this restaurant from the street, even though it is right there. We went at 8:30 and it was not busy. The waitress, who is also the owner's wife, was very helpful and explained the dishes well. The food was delicious and we look forward to trying other items on our next visit. View menu

The restaurant specializes in vegetarian version of meat Chinese dishes. One of the best places for vegetarians. Although I eat most kind of meat, I did like the vegi-chicken. Its nowhere like real meat but it tastes good. Also has lot of seafood options. Crab Meat Corn Soup (imitation crab only) is delicious, one the best soups I've had in recent times, its that good! Broccoli Vegi-Chicken is amazing because of the sauce they use. Mu-Shu prawns were okay, personally I like soft meat and they weren't. Eggplant Fish Clay Pot was also okay, there was nothing fish-like in it.

Chinese Vegetarian Restaurant. They also serve seafood. The portions are generous and the flavors are delightful. You can enjoy a seafood dinner with plenty of rice and a cup of soup for just $11. The dishes feature a variety of well-cooked vegetables. However, the sauces lean towards the sweeter side—perhaps a bit too sweet for my liking. I ordered shrimp with spicy garlic sauce, but it turned out to be not spicy at all, just sweet instead. The waitress was very friendly, and the atmosphere was relaxed, allowing us to linger without any rush. If you want to take leftovers home, this is a great place to visit.
