"Anniversary dinner with our two children, 8 and 10. We decided to sit out on the porch on a fairly humid June evening and the ceiling fans made for a nice breeze. We find most restaurants to be overly air-conditioned, but Metro 8 didn't seem like a fridge even when we walked in - that's a huge plus for me! Our waitress was very nice and attentive without interfering. She noted that it was nice to see kids with books (and math in our conversation) instead of iPads. The steaks my husband and I ordered were as advertised and delicious. So were the pages. Our girls loved their grilled chicken. Cocktails were good and just the right strength. Highly recommended."

Ideal for Father's Day as the portions are large and hearty. Airy high ceilings. Music of the type 'Frank Sinatra'. Very pleasant.

The steak was amazing. One of the best I've ever had. Service was a little slow but was worth the wait. I would definitely recommend this restaurant. It was a pleasure

After checking online reviews, schedule a last minute business lunch. We were not disappointed. From the provolenta (I think that's the name) and stuffed prawn starters to the delicious fillet and the spread for the rolls, our meal was delicious. The owner was behind the bar and was very accommodating. I will definitely come back on my next visit to the area.

Metro 8 is a great option at all times, but also more so during restaurant week. 3 course meal with a steak starter for $ 30! The 16 ounce churrasco steak is amazing and an incredible offering. My favorite dessert is the Dulce de Leche Crepes ... I like them as much as the steak - I understand they are probably a labor intensive endeavor for Restaurant Week but I was disappointed that they were removed from the Restaurant Week menu and I couldn't . t submit it for a charge. So, I probably won't go on weekly trips to the restaurant, but I'll keep coming back to the regular menu.

"Affable, knowledgable staff takes very pleasant care of you in this one of a kind location. Food is creative, but elegantly simple, and the wine list covers every contingency. The space celebrates both modern Montreal's sophistication and the famous inn's centuries of history which ooze out of the stone walls. Eating as a couple, we shared two starters (chunks of the cauliflower heads that had been roasting above rotisserie game hens) and a salmon tartar taken a subtle wasabi and mango direction. The provided bread board included half of a classic baguette and some delightfully chewy herb bread. We opted to share the for two special prime rib. Couldn't have made a better choice. The cut, intact on the bone, was brought to the table for a quick introduction before it was carved up for serving. The meat had been aged for eight days and was simply oustanding. Neither of us had ever had a prime rib of that quality, and the aging process threaded the needle perfectly aging another hour might have tipped the flavor towards a sour note. Instead, it was complex, tender, and the very definition of medium rare. Paired with a just right Saint Emilion, things couldn't have been better. The accompanying fresh greens in a vinaigrette played a cleansing role, and each of us opened a personal Staub mini cocotte to find a concoction of whipped potatos and gruyere that took care of the savory end of things with a satisfying flourish. Overly fed, we bravely avoided the very tempting dessert menu, but none the less caved and ate the small sweets that stealthily found their way to the table. Be sure to take a moment to wander the restaurant and absorb the contemporary design elements that don't for a moment hide or diminish the ancient beams and stones that are the soul of L'Auberge Saint Gabriel. We will gladly travel a few hundred miles to return to this gem."
