"Best Dominican food in Boston! My Dominican mother in law was skeptical at first, but when she tried it was blown away by how much it tasted like her mom’s from when she was alive. I highly recommend the salami y queso to start and steak for main course (all options are amazing)! Don’t forget the garlic sauce for the steak, maduros (sweet plantains) and passion fruit smoothies! The atmosphere is wonderful as well, music, paintings, general environment , all very immersive and easy to picture being back on the island. All of this, and it’s affordable!"

Great food my only complain was the host, she was rude, they didnt ask us if we want something to drink. We got there around 9:40 pm and she told us that the restaurant its almost closing , but you guys have reservation for 9:45 that means that kitchen should be open past 10pm but other than that love this place View menu

I indulged in their breakfast offering, which is remarkably hearty—essentially a dinner masquerading as a morning meal. The menu featured an enticing blend of mashed plantain, salami, and fried white cheese, all beautifully accented by sautéed red onions. Both the price and value are unparalleled, making it a must-visit for those seeking an unforgettable dining experience.

Parking can be tricky but not super bad, I would recommend use street parking. Food was good temperature and the taste was also good. The service was fast and good. Only aspect that wasn't as a good thing as everything else was the bathroom, it needed some attention for example the lock was kinda messed up, but it shouldn't be a deal breaker, because so many other things there are worth the visit.

There is not a thing that I did not enjoy about this place! The fooooood!!!! My friend is a picky eater and when I tell you that she went in, she went in!! Their fried chicken move over franchises (yum yum), steak encebollado was tender and juicy, the beans had a great taste to it, the mofongo was amazing with the sauce they give you, yes, I went around tasting Can’t wait to go back, they have a very good menu and I am curious about other things. I am Dominican, and I have to say that Merengue is the best Dominican restaurant in the Boston area. We just celebrated my husband's birthday and the staff was very professional and service was great. The food was amazing....well presented, flavorful and plenty! You get the Latin flavor as soon as you walk into the restaurant. It is beautifully decorated with authentic Dominican decor. If you are looking for a great experience, you will not be disappointed.

The food was ok but I think it could be better. I ate a sancocho and it was somewhat watery . I also ate beef pastelitos, they were a bit salty. But the Pina colada and morir sonando we're on point. We were a bit confused when we asked for typical DR juices, like passion, tamarind, and they were like we only have limonada and morir sonando. In NY, any DR restaurant you go to has all these juices available . The restaurant is sort of big but we noticed there was not a lot of clientele, I wonder why

"No soup/sandwich shop compares in terms of price per quality, portion size, and different options in the area. I only started ordering from here about 2 weeks ago and I’ve now had 7 different kinds of soups and 4 different kinds of sandwiches after the first order I started ordering two soups and a sandwich aka a soup to save for later because they’re just that good, every one of them. Price is so very reasonable and depending on which combo you get you can make out with a full sized sandwich and large sized homemade soup for $14.While it’s hard to recommend one thing over another in this circumstance since it’s all been great in their own ways, the Chicken Chowder is something I plan on getting a quart of next time it’s available. The Chicken Barley and Chicken Lemon Rice are ones I plan on getting quarts of in the future as well, and that’s not to discount the Chicken Noodle, Beef and Veg Noodle Stew, French Onion, and the current seasonal Chilled Gazpacha (which I probably wouldn’t have even tried it wasn’t from these guys . It’s all top quality. The Chicken Tarragon sandwich is my favorite in terms of sandwiches although it can’t combo with a soup as of now (please let us! . The best cheap soup combo sandwich is a tossup between the Cilantro Tuna and Ciabatta Sandwich, which are both incredible in their own ways. The only few drawbacks to this place are they don’t have every soup they make every day, are only open until 4PM, and aren’t open on the weekends. That said it’s worth it to plan accordingly for this. I never review anything but this place is worth it it’s the best if you’re a soup and sandwich person like I am."
