"In my never ending quest to find quality Japanese restaurants OTP, I was fortunate to get a recommendation from a gentleman (in Anaheim, CA of all places) for Minato. I thought I had frequented most of the Japanese/sushi joints in Smyrna, but Minato was foreign to me. For those that don't know, Smyrna is home to Metro Atlanta's largest Japanese population, as evidenced by the numerous restaurants and stores that cater to those from the land of the rising sun. Is this the home of Bilbo Baggins or the door to sushi nirvana? Either way, they apparently accept credit cards... Minato is tucked behind a small strip mall off of Cobb pkwy and Spring Rd. (next to the Lexus dealership and the defunct Sonny's BBQ) with little to no signage off the main street…this is probably why I never noticed it before. The restaurant itself is pretty cozy, with a peaceful waterfall feature and extended sushi bar. It's hard not to notice the accolades and pictures of loyal customers as you walk in and wonder"

I'm not sure if we visited on an off night or what, but I doubt we'll return. The experience was just mediocre, and it felt like we were there for a lengthy 2.5 hours for just the two of us.

If you visit on a Friday or Saturday night, be prepared for a bit of a wait for your food. However, it is definitely worth the wait! Just be patient or consider making a reservation. The food is excellent and fresh, and it's by far one of my favorite sushi spots.

Minato Japanese Restaurant is located at 2697 Spring Rd SE, Smyrna, GA 30080, close to the intersection of Cumberland Blvd and Spring Rd, just northwest of the Perimeter. Despite being an excellent dining option, this hidden gem tends to be overlooked due to its somewhat challenging location. It is situated in the basement of a small shopping center that includes Papa John's Pizza. To find it, you'll need to drive around to the side, where you'll see a bright red sign marking the entrance that leads you into a welcoming atmosphere. View menu

Massive portions and exceptional service! As a sushi connoisseur who has been enjoying it since I was three, I can confidently say this is the largest and best sushi I've ever experienced. The service is outstanding, and even though it’s tucked away next to a golf store, it truly offers the best sushi in Georgia! They close for a bit each summer for vacation, and the hardest part is the agonizing wait for their return so we can dine there again. I absolutely love the staff and the food. You won't find a better value for the quality you get!

Minato is a go-to. Second time there this week. I love this little place, right off Spring Road, near the Cumberland Mall. The sushi is always so fresh and the sushi chefs are very helpful. Ordered so much in 2 visits that I can't talk about each dish, but go and order what you like OR let the chef decide for you. Miso soup and seaweed salad are always starters for me and always terrific. Many other items on the menu, if you prefer your food cooked!Never ordered drinks here, but I've seen beer, wine, and sake at other tables. This place is easy to miss. It's behind a little strip shopping center on Spring, right next to what used to be Sonny's BBQ.Had a ton of food tonight, no drinks, for $32...

"What I know about Haitian food could fit the top of a pin, but if Zeke 's is a fair representation, I now know that it must be flavorful. The djon djon bowl was the crowning glory of our order, and it deserves all the hype it gets here on Yelp. I was curious about what 'djon djon ' was, and when we asked our server, she explained it was their version of a traditional black rice made with beans or mushrooms. Whatever was in it, it was the most delicious bed for the charred plantains, grilled shrimp, and toppings. It can also be ordered with jerk chicken, salmon, or avocado all of which I 'm looking forward to trying on return visits. The menu describes the accompanying aioli as 'epic, ' which is entirely correct. It reminded me of a slightly spicier version of the white sauce that comes with Halal food, and it brought the whole bowl together beautifully. My husband ordered a jerk chicken salad, which he praised as fresh and tasty . We were a little less enthusiastic about the salmon dip, which sounded delicious on the menu but turned out to be a little saltier than I would 've preferred. What rounded up our love for Zeke 's was the service. Our water glasses were constantly refilled, food was bussed out with efficiency, and our servers couldn 't be kinder or more welcoming. The interior is surprisingly nice (in fact, as we walked in, my husband wondered aloud if this was too fancy a place for our athleisure outfits), but I agree with one reviewer about the music being a tad loud. Luckily, here are a few outdoor tables available for those who might feel similarly."
