"It's been a year since we dined at the Olmstead and to this day we still talk about how it was the worst dining experience we've ever had! We called ahead to see if they had vegan options for their Thanksgiving dinner and they said they absolutely could provide vegan options for the multicourse Thanksgiving meal. What my husband the vegan wound up getting was literally a single slice of burnt sweet potato and THAT WAS IT, aside from a fruit platter that was I kid you not made of up canned mandarin oranges! It was almost laughable. While the rest of the family was eating multiple courses which were generally underflavored and overpriced, he had a single plate of one slice of sweet potato and a bowl of canned mandarin oranges. The staff was also pretty stuck up and did not seem apologetic. To this day it was one of the worst meals we've had and will likely be an annually revisited holiday tragedy for the next decade. If you're a vegetarian or vegan, I cannot recommend this place unless you want a tragic story to revisit every year"

I love the exterior and interior decor. It’s small inside but they still feel spacious with the way things are. I haven’t get a chance to see the backyard and maybe next time with a reservation. View menu

I missed a photo of the blooming mushroom that was so unexpectedly wonderful, but honestly everything was immaculate. All plates were nicely portioned, and tasted like farm to table comfort food. This is probably our new favorite restaurant.

Short version: Why doesn’t this place have like 8 Michelin stars?Long version: They actually do have one or two. If you’re looking for the right level of fancy with insanely high quality food for bunch, lunch, or dinner, then you found an incredible spot.PS- get 6 orders of lobster crackers. Trust me.

Very innovative presentation. The menu has a decidedly Asian influence in the presentation and the method, but the ingredients were high quality organic and local. It was a nice, unusual twist and it worked well. The room is very nice, the backyard is really lovely. Next time I'd like to go when the weather is a bit warmer and enjoy a drink in the garden. The Mezcal cocktail was very very tasty. Wines were good nice selection, some good unusual picks.I am impressed with the quality and creativeness coming out of that small kitchen. Well done View menu

We were very pleased with our experience. The restaurant decor is beautiful. The plating is beautiful. The food is very good but perhaps not as great as some reviews would have you believe. The carrot crepe, which put the restaurant on the mark according to our waiter, was good but not greatbut for the calms, which added a nice, salty component. Otherwise, the flavor wasn't sharp enough. The crawfish boil crackers tasted as described, like cajun pork rinds. The tagliatelle was our favorite. We could have licked the plate, the sauce was so good. The pasta had a nice slight crunch

Hands down my new fave restaurant in NYC and one of the most memorable dining experiences I've had since living here. Every single thing we ordered was absolutely delicious from their appetizer play on lobster thermidor, to the duck liver pate with pickled veggies (first time having pate for me! to the scallop and duck entrees (best duck I've ever had , we almost licked our plates clean. To top it off, we got to have dessert (frozen yogurt with lavender honey whipped cream and s'mores with their homemade marshmallows that we got to melt ourselves in their backyard garden where they grow their own herbs and veggies and house a couple of quail whose eggs they use (didn't realize how cute and f...

"When we called to reserve a table, no one informed us that there was a dining time limit of 1.5 hours. My friend wanted to invite more people to join us for dinner, but I was unsure if everyone would agree to the minimum charge of $60, including taxes and tips. I confirmed a reservation for 7 people during my second call, but ultimately, only 6 of us showed up. The table we were given was quite small, making it uncomfortable for six people, especially with the mandatory minimum spending of $60, as well as a 20% tip. For just two people, the minimum tip is 18%. I was confused about the dining time limit—was it two hours or 1.5? The party area was limited to just the backyard for additional seating. I was with friends who didn’t know the group well, and we arrived early at 3 PM, but we couldn’t wait until 6:30 PM. That’s why we ended up sitting at a separate table for two. Unfortunately, the restaurant didn’t seem to care and couldn’t arrange for us to be seated closer together. We had no choice in the matter. To make matters worse, the female waiter had a poor attitude. It felt like we were dining in a sidewalk market. She questioned another girl who served me ponzu sauce, apparently because I looked impatient when I saw her face. Her attitude only worsened after that. It seems like they need to train their employees better, as they seem unaware of how to provide good service. As for the food, it was just okay, typical of basic Japanese cuisine. There were too many restrictions! Customers are forced to adhere to the restaurant’s rules and limitations. I cannot recommend this place unless someone is specifically looking for a fast-food experience. In short, I don’t think I’ll be returning next time."
