"I spent the last seven hours at Kaiser Permanente across the street due to a friend's emergency surgery. Someone at the hospital mentioned a nearby Chinese restaurant that might be good, so I decided to give it a try. I walked over and stood in the lobby to place a takeout order, hoping to get back to the hospital quickly. However, I stood there waiting while a staff member kept staring at me, yet nobody approached me, offered a menu, or asked if I needed assistance. After a while, I just gave up and returned to the hospital. Unless you enjoy being ignored in a place that wasn’t even busy, I wouldn't recommend coming here after a visit to Kaiser. The fact that I made the effort to walk over only added to my frustration. Definitely not impressed by the lack of service."

Setting it apart is the quality of the chicken in dishes like the orange or lemon chicken Some other fave’s are honey walnut prawns, chow mein, green beans with tofu, fried rice, and various dumplings from the dim sum menu. Have eaten at Peony Garden several times. Food is consistently good, atmosphere is nice, service is adequate and matter of fact. More authentic Cantonese dishes. They have a rewards program that needs some work but can be straightened out with some persistence. Would recommend for casual dining. Parking: If you get there early for lunch around 11:30am, you're more likely to get a parking space in the lot. Usually not that difficult

The food was exceptional. We tried the shrimp dim sum, string beans and asparagus in black sauce, and chicken in ginger sauce. While the dim sum fell apart a bit, everything else was fantastic. For dessert, we ordered the soft black sesame-filled balls, which arrived warm and sprinkled with coconut shavings—they were utterly delightful. I highly recommend Peony Garden and plan to return. Just a heads up: parking can be a bit tricky; you might need to park up the street as street parking in front of the restaurant is limited.
