"velvet and rye is the ultimate date night experience. the ambiente is amazing, elegant and aesthetically appealing. lena is broken, it looks like 3 parts and velvety and is roggen where they want to be for a heel and clutch at night. our server was very attentive and friendly. I enjoyed the blackberry rose colonies, which refresh together with a glass prosecco. As for eating, I was not impressed by the menu outside the pizza and even with the pizza, we ordered the meatball and a pfeffersalbe, both were just okay. the garlic parmesan wings were so good. even if the selection of foods was not the best, based on the ambiente and service, I will recommend all couples for a cute date night out."

"This place really helped me adjust. I later learned that people gravitate towards certain bars, and I found my favorites, especially those with live music like Birchmere, Black Cat, 9:30 Club, Lincoln, Capital One Arena, and even the now-closed O'Shaughnessy's and Rock & Roll Hotel. One of my most memorable experiences was running into Rory Sheridan on one of my first visits. He was launching his DC music campaign back then and was part of Loud Boyz. We chatted a few times, and I even caught up with some old classmates. Another highlight was when I heard about a “reunion” night before Thanksgiving, and I decided to crash it. There were moments where people could be unkind or I felt out of place, but I was given some guidance on where I would fit in better, without the unnecessary drama. Being in Old Town, I was familiar with nearby schools like West Potomac, Mount Vernon, and Bishop Ireton. During my visits, I would often take an Alexandria cab or use Metro Access, being discreet about my disability since I felt embarrassed at times. Being a regular meant navigating the tourist scene, and there were people who seemed territorial about the place, but I ended up doing quite well when I sold my house. Good times continued with events like watching RG3 play for the Redskins or meetups organized by JT. I enjoyed New Year’s celebrations and weekend outings. I also frequented other establishments like Flying Fish before it closed, and O'Shaughnessy's before I decided to stop drinking. This is a sports bar located near a bicycle shop, close to the Ben & Jerry's I used to work at, along with many other walkable bars for bar hopping, like Union Street Pub and Fish Market. It can be a great place to have fun, but with the good comes some downsides. Overall, I felt well-hosted and respected here, despite some things I was not initially aware of or didn’t want to uncover."

"this was a very private small area that they had to go through the bar to put themselves in the back, so it was a bit confusing. the service was really good. the appetizers were especially the cold smoked hamachi. I took a friend here for her birthday, I got the steak and she got the roasted chicken with fingering kartoffels when I came to eat and I was cut into my steak it was perfect, but the haw was raw so we had to send it back. all they did, it was again in many, so that the chicken burned on the outside and very dry on the inside, not juicy, tender or damp. it had no taste at all for such a high-quality restaurant that he would at least have seasoned. the overall experience was great, except the main course of my friends, not to be good at all."

"Jose should not be in customer service. He was very inattentive. We were seated for quite a while before he came to greet us and take drink orders. Because my husband and I each took a turn to step to the restroom, he made a joke about it. On the rare occasion that he would bring something to the table, he would place it down and walk away. There were two separate instances when my husband spoke to him and he did not speak back. My husband made a statement to me after the second time, on front of Jose, “I was really looking for a response” and still, nothing. When my husband went to pay, there was a survey. Jose tried to take the device from his hand, but my husband told him to wait. Once I was up front with the two food boxes in my hands and my husband was in the restroom, Jose saw his boss standing nearby and went to grab me a bag and talked a lot, as if this had been going on throughout the meal. Food was excellent as always. We are here a lot and we’re just here on thanksgiving. But the service is hit or miss. Seems to be either excellent or terrible."

"Beautiful dinner in a wonderful location on the second floor overlooking King Street. Our server Sarah was very pleasant, but unfortunately simply overwhelmed with the number of tables she was assigned. It seemed that she was responsible for the entire second floor with regular support from a waiter from the first floor, the host who sat and tidy tables with meals served by the kitchen staff. We waited 10 minutes before Sarah arrived to take our drinks orders and then every request for water took another 10 minutes. Not their fault, but they clearly need more help."
