"As for the food, I would recommend skipping the Risotto Al Porcini—it was very bland. The pasta was even worse. I originally wanted the gnocchi but noticed it came in tomato sauce, which isn’t my favorite. Instead, I chose the Cavatelli Nonna, only to find it similarly lacking in flavor. Perhaps the sauce didn’t help, as I usually prefer a creamy one. The only positive aspect of the meal was the bread, which I enjoyed after requesting butter on the side. The Cannoli, however, tasted like it had been frozen instead of freshly made. Overall, I would NOT return to this restaurant."

The food and service were enjoyable, but the noise level was so overwhelming that it detracted from our evening with friends.

I've been eager to try this restaurant for a while, and I'm thrilled I finally did. I had the veal parmesan, while my wife opted for a chicken dish, and both were incredible. The pasta was fresh, the bread was warm and freshly baked, and the service was outstanding. I couldn’t have asked for a better dining experience. We've definitely discovered our new favorite place for date nights. Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $50–100.

Decided to have an early dinner here. We have been here a few times before but I have never reviewed. The menu is extensive without being overwhelming. The house salad was fresh but could have maybe used a bit more dressing. For dinner I had the Veal Saltimboco, thinly sliced veal with prosciutto, sage and a light wine sauce. Fantastic and very well prepared and seasoned. Perfect dinner to round out a long week. I ate at the bar and my server/bartender (kiley maybe ?? was sweet and attentive.

This was my first time at this restaurant but certainly will not be the last. There were six of us and all of us devoured our meals. This was some of the best chicken limone I have ever had. Others in our group had the pollo Amalfi, linguini with broccoli and shrimp and another pasta dish. All meals were outstanding! Bursting with flavor. Our server Adan did an outstanding job. He was attentive but not pushy at all. This was a new find for us but will now be on our roster of great Italian Restaurants. View menu

The food is incredible! Every dish is delicious and the portions are generous. However, the acoustics are poor, making it difficult for our party of four to have a conversation. The service could use some improvement. Our waiter was friendly and knowledgeable, and he was making an effort, but the restaurant was quite busy, so he might have been overwhelmed with too many tables. Despite this, we will definitely return; it’s our new favorite Italian restaurant. We understand that staffing can be a challenge.

New Favorite Restaurant Alert! This place deserves more than five stars. From the moment we walked in until we left, everything and everyone was fantastic. The staff is larger than life, incredibly friendly, and very attentive. The food and martinis were outstanding and tasted exceptionally fresh. I will definitely be coming back many times. A special shout-out to our server, Jose—he was the best server I’ve ever had! The host was also incredibly warm and welcoming. Overall, it was just the best experience!

"My daughter and I were frequent, longtime patrons of Cooper's Hawk in Downers Grove, IL. We dined there as often as 4 to 5 times per month. On September 29, 2023, we made a reservation for 1:15 pm at this location. We ordered what we usually start with an espresso martini for my daughter, and a bottle of sparking wine with two glasses for the two of us. The server, who also imparted that she had recently been promoted to a supervisor, delivered the bottle to the table with one glass only. When I questioned the server as to the whereabouts of the second glass, she stated that there was an Illinois law precluding diners from having more than one drink in front of them at the same time. She also informed me that she had told me about this policy when she served us in the past despite the fact that heretofore, she had complied with our request. When I questioned her inconsistency with regard to enforcing this rule , the server suggested that I speak with the manager, which I did. I told the manager that in all of the years, and of all of the servers that we had since patronizing this restaurant this overzealous server turned supervisor was the only waitperson that we ever had who cited and attempted to enforce this policy . I also pointed out to him that there were several tables around us at which the diners had four full glasses of wine per individual AT THE SAME TIME! (After all, it is a winery. I also asked the manager that if in fact this was a state law why was it not consistently enforced? Why were those diners allowed to have 4 drinks in front of them as the same time? Was this rule arbitrarily and selectively enforced at the manger's and server's discretion? The manager neglected to respond to my queries and contended that the server was correct. Appalled by the manager's and server's condescending and insulting treatment we left the restaurant. I complained to the Cooper's Hawk Corporate Office, and was informed by the director that the Downers Grove manager had made a substantial error, and had misinterpreted the Illinois law and the attempted enforcement of said. He apologized for the actions of the manager and the server as they had been incorrect. The director also assured me that the manager and the server would be taken to task for their egregious behavior, and for their errors in citing incorrect policy. I will not go to this restaurant again, because the manager of the Cooper's Hawk Downer's Grove location is not conversant with his company's own policies. He obviously does not value nor respect the loyalty of long time, frequent customers, as he made no attempt to assuage and retain this customer."
