"--- I recently visited the breakfast buffet at Red Bowl, which costs $8.75 plus tax on weekdays and $9.95 on weekends and holidays. The buffet is available from 6:30 AM to 11:30 AM, and since Red Bowl is open 24 hours, it's a convenient option for early risers. At $8.75, the buffet excels in quantity rather than quality. You can find a variety of dishes, including congee, noodles, fried rice, dumplings, dim sum, fruits like watermelon, and drinks such as soybean milk, orange juice, and coffee. There are over 60 different items to choose from—be sure to check out my photo for a glimpse of the options available. While the food is generally average, the wide selection is a plus, and if you're very hungry and looking to sample various dishes, the price becomes justifiable. I rated it three stars because, despite the tempting array of over 60 offerings, nothing stood out as exceptional. The highlights for me were the congee, the hot soybean milk, and the tofu jelly/pudding with ginger sauce. Overall, I would consider returning if I have an hour to enjoy a substantial breakfast, especially since there aren't many great options available in Flushing between 6:30 and 7:30 AM. After taxes, my total was around $9.53, and I left an $11 tip, making my breakfast somewhat pricey by Flushing standards. However, considering the generous amount of food available, I believe it’s worth it. Just make sure you have enough time to fully explore and enjoy all the different choices! I’ve been visiting this place for almost 20 years! It's a staple in downtown Flushing. The food is great and the prices are reasonable. They have a classic Chinese/Taiwanese roasted poultry station, and their soup noodles are really tasty too. One of my favorite features is that they offer two different types of roast duck. The service can be inconsistent, but it’s not a huge issue for me. Plus, they’re open 24 hours, which is a huge advantage for late-night or early-morning food lovers like myself!

I was in Flushing pretty late one night, so I stopped in here with my brother for some late night eats. The space reminds me of a fast food joint, and it's pretty clean compared to many of the restaurants in this area. The staff speaks English considerably well which is helpful for non-Chinese speakers. Unfortunately the food was very meh. I ordered beef noodle soup Taiwanese style, which was supposed to be spicy. It turned out to be pretty bland compared to all the other bowls of beef noodle soup I've had. But it was hot and filling, just not amazing.

Red Bowl has been around forever serving good ol' Cantonese cuisine in downtown Flushing since I was a kid. The food has always been pretty good and the location is convenient. They renovated the space a couple years ago and started to add Taiwanese cuisine and AYCE hot pot to their menu. I do enjoy the extensive menu, but kind of feels mish-mashed and out of place. The new decor reminds me of old-school casual eateries back in Hong Kong, but I prefer their old layout since it felt more spacious. I still go to Red Bowl often since it's open very very late (to 3am) but the prices are slightly higher and quality is not exactly outstanding. If Shun Won across the street is open, I definitely pr...

I recently had a disappointing experience at this restaurant. The dining area was crowded, so I decided to order soy sauce chicken and shaved ice to go. When I asked the woman behind the counter for the shaved ice, she informed me that they didn't have it. I mentioned that I always order shaved ice from there, and her response was quite dismissive. She glanced over at her coworker and, in Chinese, said she didn’t want to make it and asked if her coworker wanted to do it instead. When I told her that I understood Chinese, she shot me a rude look. I picked out my toppings, and she sarcastically remarked, "You can’t speak Chinese?! Didn’t your parents teach you?!" Her behavior was very unprofes... View menu

I visited this restaurant on a Monday afternoon to try their half roasted duck for $11. My partner and I are big fans of duck, and I'd been eager to check this place out. We got it to go but decided to eat right across the street, only to find that it was ice cold—like straight out of the fridge. The most disappointing part was the overwhelming grease; it was dripping with it. Each bite turned into a greasy mess, and I found myself having to squeeze the grease out of every piece before I could eat it. I also had to remove clumps of fat from between the skin and meat, which was quite unappetizing. Additionally, some sections of the skin were excessively salty, while others weren't. Overall, I...

The barbecue meats are consistently excellent, and I particularly love the two types of duck available. The classic Cantonese-style duck is great, but don’t miss the country-style duck, which is less greasy due to more rendered fat. The menu here is extensive, and one of my favorites is the Cambodian noodle soup, which features tender slices of pork, fish cake, shrimp, and egg in a wonderfully clear broth. All of the noodle soups are impressive, including the beef noodle soup, which is a must-try. I also highly recommend the fried rice with chicken and salted cod—it's definitely a winner for me. The service is always good, and the food is served quickly. I’ve heard they offer an unlimited b...

I ordered a Peking Pork Chop over rice for lunch. This is what I got instead. What really bothered me to write this review is that when I asked the waitress if she got my order wrong she laughed and said, the pork chop forgot to put make up on . I took a bite to see if the flavor was the same. I instantly made a face of displeasure and the waitress literally said it looks like you 're not happy and walked away laughing! Ridiculous service and attitude. It was only until the end when the manager noticed I was unhappy that she came over to apologize and take the dish off our bill. Although the manager made it right I don 't believe I will be coming back here anymore. The food is just not not u... View menu

After indulging in a massive bowl of shaved ice that left me literally shivering from the cold, I noticed that Red Bowl also offers a breakfast buffet. Curious about what they had to offer, I looked up some photos on Yelp and discovered an impressive variety, including roasted yam, onion pancakes, and congee. Right then, I promised myself to return the next morning to experience it firsthand. The next day, when I returned for the buffet, it exceeded all my expectations. There was a self-serve congee bar where I could load up on as much cilantro and pickles as my heart desired, alongside hot soy milk, eight-treasure congee, water chestnut and turnip cakes, fried sunny-side-up eggs, onion pan...

If you are hungry but out of time, this place could satisfy you with a quick fix! Lunch special has variety of Chinese dishes, from noodle soups to over rice, and the portion is just right(90% full for guy, 110% full for me! XO And they toast good, too! (I had tried 30% of dishes from their lunch special menu, and so far so good! Service is okay. I mean, the waiters and waitresses who work there are mainly with the restaurant over 10 years, so they may have lost the passion, and lack of smile on their face, or after delivering your dishes they never come to the table again until the end of meal to pass you the bill... but don't get them wrong, as they know you are there for a quick bite, not...
