"There are 2 no, there are 3 Sam Woo’s. The on Culver in Irvine has attached a “fast food” BBQ. Sam Woo also has another restaurant in Irvine on Walnut and Jeffrey. This review is for the Culver Seafood version. I ate there twice in December. One was a private party in the back room. I think there were 4 round tables of 8 people. Apparently there is a minimum order of $350 to book the room. The food was absolutely delicious. Served family style and presented on a turntable, faul Susan, I never had such unusual and tasty Chinese selection. I really can't tell you what I ate most, I tried everything. The orange chicken was the best I ever had – not tender and ill sweet as most places are suitable to serve. I was a guest in the restaurant and not paid, so I'm not sure the prices, but I think someone gave it $35 per person, no alcohol. We had English speaking Asian servers that were well trained and personal. The second visit was with some friends during the week, All older women, except 2 of us, we are all also Caucasus. I mention this because this restaurant is the meeting place for many Asian men at lunch. The waiting staff was excellent, they even gave the 7 checks separate from us! The food we individually selected with the help of the waiting staff was served family style. The waiter patiently explained ingredients and contents of hotness. We had 7 cakes plus rice and cookies with tea. The bill came a little over $10 per person. There was another lazy Susan who made life easier for us. We had 7 different dishes, some were so well served by the staff. I think nothing was mediocre. Several in the group went back during the holiday period when they visited relatives to feed. I recommend each of their ducks, but the shrimps were also special. We were over two hours, eating and chatting, and nobody looked at us."

Absolutely incredible food. The rock melted in my mouth, tasted so fresh and clean. Veggies were perfect. Smelled pork changed my life. I can't wait to return.

Personally I love the BBQ express side more than the seafood restaurant. You really can't go wrong with anything you order. My personal favorite which doesn't have a picture here is their beef brisket wonton noodle soup!

I don't like this place. I don’t like how there is a division between the “high” area compared to the “normal” area. I usually don't like the food. Most foods are too fat or too salty. I felt disgusting after eating here... feeling that I usually don't mind if the food is good.

Pretty decent quality dim sum for OC -har gow, siu mai, rice rolls, fish balls, bbq pork buns all very good. My only quibble is the shrimp rice roll that's visually a total disaster though tasted good. Reservation required, but if you come early when they open you might get lucky. A line usually forms before their 10:00am weekend opening. View menu

I always enjoy this restaurant for its excellent, quick, and affordable Chinese cuisine. I frequently order the roast pork and roast duck, both of which are fantastic. Their dim sum selection is extensive and consistently reliable. If you're looking for something a bit more creative, their seafood options are top-notch and perfect for family banquets.

I visited this restaurant for lunch with my family. The food was served promptly and consisted entirely of traditional Cantonese dishes. We enjoyed salted fish fried rice, which wasn't on the menu, along with string beans, beef with Chinese broccoli, roast pork, taro with fatty pork, chicken feet, siu mai, and honey walnut shrimp. The waitstaff spoke Cantonese, and there was a diverse mix of customers. It's unfortunate to see this place closing, but I'm grateful we had the chance to try it at least once before it did!

Regrettably, I must have missed the closure sign during my last dozen visits. When I arrived on December 13th at 1:30 PM, I was horrified to find the lights off, except for one staff member inside stacking steam trays. Even then, I was in denial until someone pointed out the sign to me. That sudden realization hit me hard, and I’m still heartbroken. I have so many cherished memories from over the years, and I am grateful to the staff, who have always been so friendly and welcoming, especially during takeout. I will truly miss this place. I wish I had the chance to thank each staff member in person. Thank you to Edith, the owner, and her family for an incredible 28 years. View menu

Be careful when you do an online order through Yelp. First, some clear signage about where to pick up online orders will help. Went to the restaurant, then redirected to next door, then to the take out counter. Wasted time. But the more serious issue is to be told the restaurant did not have a contract with Yelp, hence the online order through Yelp was not valid. I was skeptical and showed the lady the email confirmation but she insisted the order was not received and we had not been charged. So I had to order with her and had to wait 15 20 minutes for our food. When we got home and checked our account, sure enough we were indeed charged for the online order. We called the Yelp/Grubhub CS an...

Recently, our group visited on a weekend for a Friendsgiving dinner. We made our reservation early and arrived at 5 PM, being one of the first groups seated in the dining area of the seafood restaurant. The venue can accommodate around 80 guests, but they don't have enough staff to handle a full house efficiently. Originally, we planned for everyone to order a dish to share, but as the conversation flowed, only a couple of people ended up placing all the orders. Our dinner included: - Peking Duck - Yang Chow Fried Rice - Honey Glazed Walnut Shrimp - Mongolian Beef - Sautéed Black Mushrooms with Baby Bok Choy - Fish Fillet with Spicy Salt The standout dish was definitely the Peking Duck, s...
