"This place is extraordinarily amazing, the taste of homemade German comfort foods, ambient down to earth vibe, and hospitality. It gives you the experience of being invited to a German friend's place and being treated to a extraordinary tasteful home cooked meal with warm and welcoming atmosphere. Also you can bring your own drink to their tables and have an amazing time with your friends and family over a nice table lighted by candles. Its a unique experience having dinner there and the price is reasonably cheap. We had 2 starters and two big main meal with two deserts and drinks for two people and it all cost less than $70 with tip. I mean wow!!!! I recommend try Schweineschnitzel which is thinly pounded pork loin, breaded and fried, served with a choice of German potato salad or potato gratin. Also Rheinischer sauerbraten was the chef's kiss. It's a marinated beef roast served with braised red cabbage and Servietten-dumplings. We will definitely stop there next time that we are visiting Portland again."

Wow the best meal I've had in a long time!! Highly recommend the pea soup. The complimentary rye bread was also incredible. Got the goulash and squeezed some lemon, it was amazing. View menu

Schutte Herr is a fantastic spot for authentic German dishes. The cozy atmosphere and excellent service make you feel right at home. I sampled the schnitzel, spaetzle, potato pancakes, and cucumber salad, and everything was delicious! Plus, it's a BYOB establishment with no corkage fees, which is a wonderful way to enjoy your favorite beer or wine with your meal. Food: 5/5.

"Boxcar Pizza does creative all vegan pizza done Detroit style. I am from NY and had plenty of pizza there in the day before I was vegan. Pizza and NY are synonymous. I would love to check out Screamer's Pizza in NY next time I am there.I have only had Detroit Pizza one other time and happened to be vegan. It was alright when I had it then. I have been to Detroit where the talented rapper Eminem is from. Detroit is where the pinball like running back legend Detroit Lion Barry Sanders played. Detroit is where I was in awe when I saw the Diego Rivera murals there. Detroit isn't known for it's pizza yet lately Detroit pizza seems to be getting popular.Detroit Pizza is like a cross between Sicilian and Chicago deep dish yet comes in a square with four slices. Boxcar Pizza was named best vegan pizza this past year in Veg News magazine so had great expectations coming here. Boxcar Pizza delivered! I went with the Viktor Vaughn pizza. The pizza came with mozzarella, cheddar, kale, red onions, ricotta, mama lil's peppers, and pesto. I got it with a side of red sauce for dipping which I recommend. The pizza was very tasty. Plenty of flavor. It was a bit rich and filling for plenty of vegan cheese was used. Perhaps a touch less vegan cheese and other pizza pies with more veggies would be nice. I like that this pizza had plenty of veggies on it. I just got this and was able to eat it all. Each pizza serves one to two depending on your appetite. If you come with a friend or spouse might be good to split one and order a Kale Caesar salad to share.Viktor Vaughn is the real name of Dr. Doom who happens to be the arch enemy of the Fantastic Four in the Marvel Comics. Viktor Vaughn is also a British rapper. There are many different kinds of pizza here and am so happy that a vegan pizza place delivers tasty vegan pizza. I hope they open up branches in other cities.Recommended!"
