"We arrived early and were prepared to wait, as there’s only enough seating for about 30 people at a time, making it a popular spot. Fortunately, we were seated within 30 minutes. I learned that they used to have outdoor seating during the pandemic, but now it's all indoors. Once seated, our server, Paul, did an outstanding job. He was attentive, polite, helpful, and friendly. We opted for the Omakase style and chose the Nozawa Trust Me, which consists of about 10 different plates served sequentially. This format allowed us ample time to savor each dish while the chefs prepared everything fresh. The timing was perfect; we never felt rushed and never waited too long between plates. In addition to the Trust Me menu, we also ordered individual pieces of Bay Scallops, Hokkaido Sea Scallops, and Uni, as well as the Daily Special, which was so good we couldn’t resist. Each piece of sushi was incredibly fresh, beautifully plated, and had a smooth, buttery texture. It's worth noting that this restaurant does not follow a traditional tipping model; instead, a 16% service fee is included in the bill. Despite that, I ended up tipping over 16%, probably closer to 30%, because Paul truly provided excellent service. With fantastic sushi and attentive service, I will definitely return if I'm ever back in the LA area."

Our favorites are the scallops, sweet shrimp, yellowtail, Kampachi, and blue crab hand rolls! They're all incredibly delicious and reasonably priced. Don't forget to redeem your check-in points for a free Trust I set on your birthday!

Amazing dining experience! 7 courses brought out at a perfect pace, each course better than the next. Rice is warm. Seaweed crisp. The fish literally melts in your mouth. Best sushi I have ever had hands down. Service and ambience impeccable. Highly recommend!

Very delicately prepared take and very worthy of IG. It is a bit expensive and I was still hungry, even if I ordered to share some additional roles. It was worth a try! I wanted to pick it up on Friday night at 9 a.m. and the restaurant was so full! Excellent service and friendly host.

We used to live in LA and the one spot we had to go back within the 2 days visiting was sugarfish! The most clutch and affordable sushi place you will ever find. Consistency wise you can't beat them! Try kazu nori as well if you have not already. Same owner, just as delicious but a different experience. The fish melts in your mouth along with the perfectly temperatured rice. View menu

Reasonable prices and delicious quality fish! If you are new to sushi, this is especially a great place to try out. It is simply delicious and gives you a good idea of what sushi is about without all the frills of modern sushi restaurants nowadays. The fish will literally MELT IN YOUR MOUTH! Any of the set menus are great and have a variety of fish. Nigiri, edamame, sashimi, and handrolls are included in all of them. I definitely recommend getting the regular TRUST ME to get the best value. Ask to switch out the hirame for the bay scallops if you can :

I waited for almost 2 hours to get it... And I was excited for every second because I knew it was worth the hype and anticipation..... And then when I got the text that said I was next in line I came inside and checked in, and the host even acknowledged me and told me I was next in person.... However after the person in front of me was seated the hostess marked me as a no show while I was 6 feet away from her and then called 3 other parties ahead of me. Eventually I spoke up and was seated promptly but..... The organization and concentration needs work.

I started off with some edamame, and then I decided to go for the “Trust Me” option. This included tuna sashimi, albacore sushi, salmon sushi, a toro hand roll, Japanese yellowtail sushi, Hirami sushi, and a blue Dungeness crab hand roll. I also added uni sushi, a lobster hand roll, unagi sushi, and bay scallop hand rolls. As a big eater, I can say that every piece was spot-on. The selection was incredibly tasty, and I hardly needed to use any soy sauce because the flavors were so fantastic on their own. I did get a ticket for an expired parking meter, but at least the food was excellent! I’ll definitely be returning. View menu

SO overrated… can’t understand the hype Food It tastes like any other average sushi restaurant but with less option. So bland and basic. It’s like a quick grab and go sushi but they try to make it sound fancy by calling it a omakase (or a La carte as another option) experience. For those that had true quality omakase, sugarfish is like a cheaper, low quality version. Some fish served smelled and with quality omakase, fish just melts in the mouth and isn’t fishy. Price overpriced. Small portions with the most basic fish type. But cheaper omakase option. It won’t make you full. Ambience decent but so many people crammed into a tiny space. Hard to have private conversation Service decent but no...

Long overdue review of sugarfish. Small restaurant inside an outlet with others. Didn't think too much about street parking, since the garage is just right next to it. Service: ok service, typical American style service. They gonna check back to you once in awhile. But I wish they would have done more to space out the seatings when they are not full. (For covid reason) Food: ordered the trust me menu so I can focus on the eating part. Their fishes are fresh, yet the Nigri is smaller than typical sushi places. Not really a lot of varieties but good portion size. 14 pieces and a handroll and a sashimi appetizer is a lot of food. Critical: the rice fell apart when I was trying to pick up the pi...
