"My review would be in complete agreement with Electra Redd’s review, to the letter. I split my time between Nevada City and LA. There is not a comparable sushi place to Nobu, Sugarfish or Katana here and that’s to be expected. That being said. Sushi in the Raw is very good, the best between here and San Francisco, except for their refusal to sell Ahi tuna. But then we’re in California, everyone’s got a find a cause to support. Their’s is apparently the plight of the tuna. All of my dinner experiences since they moved have been just as Electra Redd stated. I took my two young daughters one night. Dinner took three hours, my girls were well behaved but nearly inconsolable waiting on their food. Every time has been at least a two and half hour ordeal. I’ve spent thousands of dollars and unfortunately many hours at Sushi in the Raw. What makes it worse is seeing someone order much after I ordered and for them to receive their order first, the same meal as I ordered knowing the wait staff mistakenly served them, walking right beside our table. When confronted she said ours would be out shortly. No apology. 20 minutes later it came out. Really? So how long does it take to fillet a piece of fish for nigiri or sashimi? It’s the best we have unfortunately but hardly worth the frustration of a 3 hour meal and servers that don’t really care about your experience."

At the end of 2022 I went to Sushi Q in Nevada City. I ordered avocado rolls, I think, and a glass of wine probably. Nice atmosphere.

The service was wonderful—both traditional and elegant. They offer a complete vegetarian menu with clearly labeled vegan and vegetarian options. Be sure to make reservations at least two weeks in advance by calling the restaurant. Their vegan mango and avocado shooter is absolutely incredible!

My roommate and I visited this restaurant while in town, and we had a fantastic experience. The service was outstanding, and our server, August, suggested the honeymoon roll, which was absolutely delicious. The sake selection was impressive as well, making for an enjoyable evening. I would highly recommend this place!

As for vegetarian options, there are plenty of delightful choices. Kid-friendliness? Yes, they do accommodate kids, but honestly, I don't recommend it. This is truly an experience, and kids often don't appreciate how special it is. Plus, the pricing isn't very kid-friendly, and loud children can disrupt the dining atmosphere. It might be better to hire a babysitter—it's still a more economical choice, and everyone will appreciate the peaceful environment. Keeping noisy kids at home will free up space for others to enjoy this fantastic dining experience. Trust me, you'll want to leave the rowdy little ones behind!

It’s wonderful to see the legacy being maintained so expertly. We had some reservations about visiting the new location after reading mixed reviews online, but I’m so glad we decided to go tonight! Everything—from the food to the service—was fantastic, perhaps even better than before! The fish was beautifully and delicately sliced, the service was impeccable, and even though I didn’t recognize many of the staff, I felt right at home. I highly recommend the chef's choice sashimi platter and the Gold Rush California-style dish; they were truly mind-blowing and melted in my mouth! We will definitely be back! We’re thrilled. Thank you for keeping this tradition alive!
