"How can I return to a restaurant when the service is so terrible? After we ordered our food our server never returned. Someone else brought the food, but no one stopped by to see if we needed anything. We had to flag down another server to order more rice, to have our water glasses filled, to get back the cork for the wine bottle we brought but did not finish, and to ask for the check. (We also filled our own wine glasses, which does not bother me as it's better then their constantly overfilling them, but when I spend $15 corkage at an inexpensive Asian restaurant that has a small, lousy wine list (with no vintages listed anyway I should be getting something for my money. The food we like but there is no point eating it there."

Not impressed with the food at all. Their Shaken Beef was way too tough, and mango chicken was just OK. Not planning to return.

The spicy eggplant dish was lacking in eggplant, and the prawn dishes were lacking in prawns. The Thai cuisine was mediocre overall.

eating in this restaurant is good. the curries are the best I have eaten in the opposite. the decor becomes old and must be updated. some of the server are good others not. View menu

Pretty good Thai but...food very slow arriving--one dish came 5-6 minutes before others. Pad Thai was great but the lamb in the lamb curry was very tough, almost needed a knife. Surprised the bill arrived before we were even asked about dessert. Ran out of the Stella draft (only one of two for a Thai restaurant?

Americanized Thai food but very good quality. Having lived in Thailand 6 years I was hoping for more authentic dishes but most Americans probably don't want that. Som Tom was lacking but the waiter warned me in advance it would not be authentic. It was packed on a weeknight so obviously the locals know it's good. No complaints from me.

We went to Taiphoon for a birthday with the family. We had to wait for nearly 30 minutes to be seated even though we had a reservation. Then the service was quite quick and friendly. The food was good but not exceptional. The restaurant was very noisy in the beginning due to a couple of big parties, but quieted down after they left. My takeaway: avoid at peak times View menu

I grew up in the area, so I've seen a lot of restaurants come and go around University Avenue. There's a reason Thaiphoon stays when so many (often really good) restaurants have fallen. They make seriously great food. Whenever I come back for a visit, my family and I always make a point of going to Thaiphoon. I do have some menu items I especially like, but I've yet to be disappointed by a new menu item. This place is the best.
