"We went for brunch at 11:30. Surprisingly not as busy as expected given the glowing reviews. The waiter finally made it to our table after being seated for more than five minutes. He welcomed us but then said the specials were on the chalk board and we didn't look like we had any trouble reading so he proceeded to ask for our drink order. We both had coffee but were never offered a refill. The brunch menu was lack luster at best with at least 4 menu items that included a raw or undercooked farm egg. Fine it you like farm eggs. I suppose if you want pizza or oysters for brunch, this place would be acceptable. But for breakfast or traditional brunch, go elsewhere. Parking: Limited on site parking but a free lot a block over. "Always in my top 5 in Charleston at any moment. The absolute best staff, best service and consistently good food. This is a great place. If you have a crowd with varied taste, there are beef, options, seafood options, and pasta. The menu is small and changes fairly often and I can’t recommend the specials enough. The cauliflower dip is absolutely to die for, and they are seared tuna, the appetizer, or the entrée is incredible. The dishes are always creative, the ingredients are fresh, and it’s always just an overall wonderful dining experience."

"I am a big fan of Edgar Allan Poe, so I was very excited to visit this restaurant. The atmosphere was fantastic, with everything dedicated to Poe, including the names of the drinks and food items. However, I was disappointed by the food. I ordered the Rue Morgue burger and my wife had the fish tacos. My burger was dry and lacked flavor, while her fish tacos were small and flavorless. If you are a fan of Poe, the ambiance is definitely worth experiencing, but the food may leave something to be desired."

"The gelato at this place is excellent, and it is affiliated with the Fruitinate daughter restaurant, which is also very good. The best flavor I have tried so far is the earthberry. The prices are reasonable, around $6-$10 for a small to large serving, which is comparable to other gelato places. However, parking can be frustrating as there are limited spots and street parking can be taken up by other restaurants. The staff is always very friendly. Overall, I recommend this place. They offer about 20 different flavors, including dairy-free options."

"This restaurant would receive five stars if it weren't for one thing: charging $8 for a pint of Guinness is outrageous. The bar is reasonably priced for other drinks, like a $6 vodka cranberry, which were well made. The food was standard bar fare and tasty. The service was fast and friendly. However, the $8 price for a Guinness is steep compared to other places in the city that charge $7.50. Be cautious of beer prices as they are not listed. Despite the high Guinness price, focusing on affordable drinks could make this spot a great local hangout."

"Maybe be open when you have reservations booked? Maybe don’t confirm them 30 minutes before if you’re taking off early that day? Maybe answer your phone? Also no one working around here even knew this place existed. Maybe the other reviews were just some kind of fever dream?? If a restaurant takes reservations and isn’t open and doesn’t serve its customers, is it even a restaurant? Does it even exist? Is this even real life? It’s a whole “tree in the woods” sort of situation. Starting to have fun with this terrible review now…"
