"My wife and I were up in the area yesterday and decided to stop in and try the barbecue . We ordered plates and an array of sides, so we were able to try pretty much everything Rustic Hog has to offer. The turkey was excellent very moist with great smoke penetration and lots of turkey flavor. Sadly, our experience went downhill from there. The brisket was just plain bad. Our slices looked like they were taken from the far end of the flat, which is admittedly a tricky part of the brisket to get right. The meat was dry, crumbly, and low on flavor. Plus the smoke ring looked like it was induced from a sodium nitrite rub.The rest of the items were just so so. We liked the sausage well enough, and the pulled pork was nice and moist. But everything was very very sweet for our taste. The pork tasted like it had be rubbed or mopped with too much sugar, and the baked bean were WAY too sweet. I suspect that the Rustic Hog is going for a kind of Carolina sweet flavor profile, which could be great. But the folks who do that kind of cooking really well know how to balance the sugar against vinegar and other acidy flavors. Unfortunately this was just smack you in the face sweet. All this being said, I've got to give them kudos for their staff and service. Everyone was extremely friendly and service was fast. I wouldn't suggest that you go 100 miles out of your way to eat at the Rustic Hog. But if you happen to be in the neighborhood, go ahead and give them a try."

"Ellen, the friendly and knowledgeable lady at the counter, was a delight. She was ready to provide thorough details about every cupcake I asked about. I mentioned it was my first visit and asked for her top recommendations. She suggested the wedding cake cupcake—which I ended up choosing. They also had a sample of strawberry shortcake available, and after tasting it, I was impressed by how moist and delicate it was. It definitely heightened my anticipation for my own selection. Ellen explained how cupcakes travel best, but I gave her that "no way" look and said my cupcake wasn't making it home with me—I had to enjoy it right then and there at one of their two outdoor tables (sadly, there's no seating inside). The cupcake was quite good, with plenty of icing (almost too much for my taste). However, I was a bit let down because it didn't match the moisture and delicacy of that little strawberry sample. Nonetheless, it was still delicious. Prices are $3.25 each or $36 for a dozen. I also felt they could be slightly larger for the price. Although the store wasn’t crowded, there was a steady stream of customers coming in and out, indicating that it’s definitely popular. I’ll be back, Gigi—no doubt about it! There are so many tempting flavors to try, and I’m particularly excited for the salted caramel. But for now, the “Chunky Monkey” will just stick to one cupcake at a time!"

"When we visited, we were fortunate to sample some items from the menu. It's worth noting that the offerings change on different days, so it's advisable to check their website. We especially enjoyed the chocolate cake and a few other selections that had minimal or no frosting at all. The cake itself was excellent! We went towards the end of Saturday, and I was curious how the cupcakes would hold up at that time. I was pleased to find that they were still soft and flavorful. My wife, who has a gluten sensitivity, was thrilled with the gluten-free cupcake, claiming it was fantastic! All four kids with us loved their cupcakes too. For comparison, we tried Crave a few weeks ago, and I have to say I preferred Gigi's. During our visit to Crave in the afternoon, none of the four cupcakes tasted as fresh as we had hoped, and my daughters didn’t finish theirs. Since neither of these places is particularly cheap, that was a bit disappointing. On the bright side, Gigi's coffee is definitely worth a try, and there were other pastries that I’d love to come back to sample. I hope this review helps someone! If you enjoy cupcakes, Gigi's is definitely worth a visit. They have a great variety, our cupcakes were fresh, and everyone in our group thoroughly enjoyed them. We spent $21 on six cupcakes, which is a fairly typical price for gourmet treats, and less than at some other places I've tried that I didn’t like as much."
