"Carnivore visits Sweetgreen for the first time. There are 939 Sweetgreen locations in 17 states and DC. States with the most: NY 250, CA 154, MA 127. The first time I ever visited a Sweetgreen was in downtown Washington DC in April 2022. Temperatures hit 89 degrees the first days of our week stay, and this place was only a block away. First time wife and I shared a guacamole greens salad, but with balsamic vinaigrette. Dish came with sliced chicken for $11.95. Wife gave me all the red onions, while we both fought for the guacamole. Took it back to our hotel, remembering to bring plastic utensils, with salad dressing on the side in containers. Second time wife got the Chimichurri chicken dish, while I got the Harvest Bowl, which came with chicken. The chimichurri sauce was way too sweet and spicy. The Harvest Bowl raw kale didn't blend well in taste with the offered combination. Forgot to substitute mixed greens for the raw kale, and red onions for the blue cheese, and had to toss them. Build yourself salads start at $9.95. No added cost for wild rice and mixed greens. $1.50 for sliced egg, $3.25 for sliced chicken, $0.50 for tomatoes, $0.50 for sweet potatoes. I take their standard salads and substitute mixed greens or romaine for the raw arugula or raw kale, and parmesan cheese for blue cheese, or goat cheese. Limited indoor and outdoor seating, with maybe four tables, each seating two or three people. If you want a seat you may have to hope the stranger already seated is charitable enough to share a table with two old farts. Closed on weekends and after 6pm on weekdays. It's that kind of neighborhood. There are 23 Sweetgreen locations in the metropolitan area of DC in Yelp, almost as many as the 28 McDonald's locations. No overlap of customers."

"was going through salad withdrawal, on vacation for a week and usually, I eat home made green salads with fixins, lol Daily. But on holiday, it 's just all kinds of **** I shovel into myself. I first ordered on Doordash which, without meat or fish, just veggies was over $30, and a 20% tip would 've been $36 : ! WTF? For a green salad? Nope, I couldn 't do it. Never minds that I 'd been wanting to try it forever and the photos and descriptions looked divine but not at that price tag. My husband was gonna be coming back from Belmont, so e we figured he should pick it up ... and by the time I recalculated the entire order only one salad and added a coupon code, all of a sudden the same salad was only $11! Whaaaat?? Ding ding ... Sold! I was super excited but no idea what to expect. I got their Green Goddess with some add one, e.g. goat cheese, red onion, pickled carrots ... and when I got it home, I added Granny Smith apple, fresh lime juice, Braggs Apple Cider vinegar salt and pepper. It was a thing of beauty, a revelation, and though it had roasted sweet potato which I 've never really liked, I loved their version plain and no bells or whistles, crunchy, and that crunch was evident in all their veggies, including their cooked red beets. It was redolent off fresh spinach, garbanzo beans, broccoli, fresh and pickled carrots ... I 'm making it sound ordinary and pedestrian, except that it was extraordinary and ethereal. The dressing was super fresh and befitting the green in the goddess. I love love love tangy Sophie stuff, so I really poured the lime and vinegar, though my husband likes more sweet stuff, so he 's out zero additional acidity. The salad usually also comes with kale, which I think is so vulgar and awful, horribly difficult to digest and not tasty at all, it should be outlawed as a leafy green vegetable. I love that Sweetgreen gives you the option to leave it out, which they did and seemed to sub it for more fresh spinach, so sign me up. Their single portion is not single, and easily could 've served three to four people mammoth container. If you drive there to pick it up and portion accordingly or if you have a larger appetite, it 's well worth the price. Btw, I asked for extra dressing because I had a hunch that one small container wasn 't goofing too be enough, and I was right. Even two of their small containers was barely enough for my husband and me, and he doesn 't like things doused in dressing. So of you like your salad well dressed, you 'd do well to get extra."
