"We started dining here nearly 10 years. It was one of our favorite places from 2014 to 2019. It was always packed, very lively and the food and atmosphere were excellent! We stopped in recently, we were very excited to return! Sadly, our experience was nothing like it was in the past. It started with the waitresses less than welcoming approach, which was more of a tell me what you want, so we can get this started and finished approach. We ordered 2 coffees, she replies discouragingly with it 's instant, do you still want it?! We reply yes, when did it change? She says, it 's always been instant! No, not when Jesse was there. It was a fresh pot and you didn 't have to ask or pay for a refill. Our lunch comes, see photo. Folks...this is not true authentic Mexican shredded chicken enchiladas. This is boiled chicken rolled up in a tough tortilla with a sour tasting sauce and bland. I was concerned to eat it and Gordon Ramsay 24 Hour episodes were playing in the back of my head. The restaurant had maybe 3 booths filled, including ours. It was prime lunch time hours. No students to be found. Maybe 5 dining adults. One rude waitress. The enchiladas and rice were undoubtedly microwaved. We are told new cooks and La Casa has previously shuttered. I can sadly see why. Old food, not tasty, abrasive service. It was nothing like we experienced in the past. We were tempted to leave during lunch. I think the first major change came when Jesse left. He was the heart of La Casa!!! He ran the restaurant and managed the employees and interacted with the guests like it was his own restaurant. Sadly, it is all gone. We will never return. I don 't know how they are still open and the health department needs to check their kitchen practices and dates on food, storage and handling. RIP to the original La Casa that is no more. "My buddies and I ate here two nights in a row while on a fishing trip. The first night we all had the prime rib. A perfectly cooked slab of meat. The Carriage cut is a 3 lb masterpiece. Don't miss their dressings that are homemade. My favorite was the parmesan peppercorn but the blue cheese was a big hit at our table too. The salad is huge. Our second night only one went back to the prime rib well. It was great again. Three others tried the fried seafood platter and it was met with mixed reviews. The breading was pretty thick and greasy, maybe go with broiled. I had bacon wrapped pork tenderloins that were fabulous. What really made our 2nd dinner special was the attention received by our server, Rose. She was fabulous and on top of every request. We had a lot of special requests and she kept her composure through each one. Seek Rose out if you want spectacular service with a great meal. We will return for the prime rib on our next fishing trip to the area. Now a two star review for the sleeping arrangements. The hotel portion is part of the Tillman Inn and cannot be reviewed separately because the website for the separate Fair Haven Inn is the website for Tillman's. The hotel portion of Tillman's Village Inn is a drastic difference from what we experienced in the restaurant. It is called Fair Haven Inn and is a quaint Victorian era house from the outside split into four rooms but the inside is run down and in need of major renovation. The smell of your grandmother's house is what hits you first. Mothballs are not my favorite choice as an air freshener. The carpet is dirty and the color schemes are very strange. Nothing takes you back to the Victorian era like sea blue walls and teal trim. The beds and mattresses were old but ok for one night. By the 2nd night, my back could not wait to get out of there. The bathroom sink had about a 2-3 inch gap where it had pulled away from the wall. The TV in each room is, I think a 13 inch screen. They advertise premium cable but ESPN was not included and it doesn't really matter if you can't see the screen anyway. The only saving grace is that the rooms were about $80 per night in the off season. My recommendation is visit the restaurant and enjoy a great meal but stay far away from the Fair Haven Inn side unless you hear of a major renovation."

"This is by far the worst dining experience I have ever had. The meal started off harmless enough with a delicious tossed salad and bread. The server was also very sweet and attentive. When my main course of gnocchi with mushrooms arrived, I noticed that there was a crack running all the way from the side of my plate, through the center, and out the other side of the plate. The crack was deep and full of black dirt. I immediately told the server in a kind matter what was wrong with the plate and she said she would immediately get me another dinner on a plate that was not cracked. This is where the whole experience when awry. A woman sitting on the other side of the restaurant saw the server take my plate back to the kitchen and she immediately approached two tables near her and started talking about how awful I was that I sent my meal back. The other two tables turned around and looked at me and made me extremely uncomfortable. This was not at all the fault of the restaurant, but I called the server back and told her to take my meal off the bill as I had lost my appetite due to the unwanted attention the 3 tables across the restaurant were giving me. After I had done this a man from one of the other tables got out out of his seat and told me to shut my mouth and that I had no business to send my food back. He was yelling at me and insulting me so loudly that a man from the kitchen had to come out and see what the problem was. Although the man from he kitchen and the server were both extremely professional and kind, I will never dine in this establishment again. The clientele is brash,, rude, and borderline violent. The restaurant is dirty and appropriate health regulations are not maintained. Food should never be served in a cracked plate due to the chance of contamination. I felt like I was at a bar involved in a bar fight instead of dining at a family restaurant. It really was that bad."
