"I've been to Rayne and Scott Candy Land Shoppes. Took my visiting grandson to Rayne and yesterday I visited the Scott store. Very expensive and not worth a trip back to empty my wallet for rude, entitled store clerks. As I was shopping in the early evening, wanting to surprise my husband, I would set things down on the counter as went along. Each time I set things down, the unhappy locking young girl would rudely as ask if I was done yet, each time. I then asked her if they were getting ready to close and she said no. Ice cream was the item I wanted last. A different girl waited on me there and had a somewhat better attitude. It was an impulse stop since I had just left urgent care and have a fracture in my big toe. Even though I'm a S. LA native, I liver on Myrtle Beach, SC for nearly 25 yrs. There are several really nice Candy shops there and much larger, old fashioned candies, ice cream, novelties, etc and so busy that the stores require several employees at a time. Quality staff who have personalities who can work with the young and the old. I felt as thought I was treated with a bias, I'm a woman of a certain and age and I'm handicapped. I was the only one in the store, yet they never came out from behind the counter to greet me or ask if I needed anything. I spent over $40 on candy and ice cream. I'm not going back to be treated like that. Fudge is gummy, meaning its made using corn syrup. Chocolate pecan fudge is stale. Some of the wrapped candy is also not so fresh. I thought there would have been more of selection of candies from yester-year. I don't see how this store can survive catering to only the young. In my former position, I had at least 25 employees during the summer. Attiudes like the girls at two of the ststores I visited wouldn'twith me. This store still lacks irs own identity. "Decided to stop and try what seems to be a Louisiana favorite Chicken Cracklins Boudins. There were many places that serve these favorites along our route and we relied upon our fellow Yelpers to pick which one. We went through the drive thru which went quickly and the lady at the window helped us with some of our questions, being our first time in trying this state favorite! We decided to try the Pepper Jack Boudin, Chicken Cracklins Fried Corn. The Pepper Jack Boudin was seasoned and fried to perfection on the outside while moist on the inside with a burst of melted pepper jack cheese in the middle! We read from a fellow helper to get the Dat Dip sauce which we agree added the perfect touch to dip them in. The ranch was not impressive and would not request that in our opinion. The Dat DIp is similar to Cane's Chicken dipping sauce which we love as well! The Chicken Cracklins were fried to give you the perfect crunch with each Cracklin bite! Fried in the same seasoned batter as the Boudin, so good flavor! The Fried Corn on the Cob was just okay. It lacked seasoning even though it seems to be in the same batter. I was hoping to have the Corn Boudin like we read about, but did not see that as a drive thru choice when we arrived. Perhaps we missed seeing it. We enjoyed trying these state popular items, we look forward to trying out some of the other places to see how they compare next time we pass through LA!"
