"If you have not had the opportunity to dine at The Rousseau House in Ancaster Ontario (just a few minutes off Hi-way 403) then do yourself a favour and try it!The Rousseau House is 'hands down' one of my favorite restaurants for dining with Friends, Family and for business. This restaurant is located in a beautifully restored Victorian stone manor dating back to 1848 and owned by Andrew Keyshawn, a well known name if the restaurant industry in the Burlington, Hamilton and Ancaster area.If you are dining for lunch or dinner you will not be disappointed. They have an extensive menu along with a fabulous tapas option.....and the oysters are always fresh!Along with a robust wine menu (Napa is my go to region) they also have a good selection of craft beers on tap along with a 'feature tap' that is usually changed about once a month and of course the RH signature cocktails. If you have a business meeting or family function they have 3 rooms to choose from, Panabaker Room, the Solarium (my go to room for my business meetings, can hold up to 16 people comfortably) and the Honeysuckle Room. A big plus is plenty of on-site parking. We have used all three room for both Family functions (birthdays, confirmation dinner) and business meetings (my Team fly in from all over Canada) and never been disappointed. The patio is open from Spring till early Fall and offers a great view of Wilson Street in historical downtown Ancaster. There is also a bar/lounge area with a big screen TV. Perfect place to wind down from a long day or winding up for a great evening. The staff is very friendly and accommodating.....shout outs to Kevin, Mark (knows his wines), Penny, Chris, Nikki, Connor and of course Owner Operator Andrew. You have earned the right to give this restaurant a try, trust me, you will be back. And....if you use my name, Andrew might just buy you a craft beer on tap!!"

"Made a reservation for 9:30 pm. They require a credit card in order to charge a fee for no shows or last minute cancelations, which gives the impression that this restaurant expects you to respect their time. We arrived on time and were told our table was not ready and to wait at the lounge bar and have a drink. The lounge bartender had a few customers, but he did not greet me for about seven minutes. I ordered a cosmo for my date, who had just come back from the restroom and was surprised I had not ordered her drink for her already. The bartender made something that visually passed for a cosmo but was made with Ciroc. With the automatic 22% tip, that non-cosmo cost more than $20. We waited about twenty minutes for our table. When we were seated at around 9:50 pm, we had to wait a long time to be greeted and for drinks to arrive and then to order food. We asked the server what sake they had but she did not know if they had sake at this Asian Fusion restaurant. It took her a while to find out and we ordered the bigger of the two options. No service of the sake was offered, much leas any knowledge of the sake, but 22% gratuity on the $60 bottle of sake was automatically added to the check. We ordered food, the three courses we got arrived at a good pace. The food was good. After dinner I asked for the dessert menu and the server told me the two options. I asked for a minute to think about it but she never followed up. I could not get her attention so I asked another employee for the check. I waited 5 minutes then flagged the same other employee again. The server eventually came to the table and handed me the portable credit card machine. No printed check was offered. I reviewed the check on the screen and tapped my card but forgot to see if the tip was included. I asked the server and she said the 22% included was split between her and the staff and I could leave her more. I did not. The atmosphere was slick but not professional."
