"If you have not had the opportunity to dine at The Rousseau House in Ancaster Ontario (just a few minutes off Hi-way 403) then do yourself a favour and try it!The Rousseau House is 'hands down' one of my favorite restaurants for dining with Friends, Family and for business. This restaurant is located in a beautifully restored Victorian stone manor dating back to 1848 and owned by Andrew Keyshawn, a well known name if the restaurant industry in the Burlington, Hamilton and Ancaster area.If you are dining for lunch or dinner you will not be disappointed. They have an extensive menu along with a fabulous tapas option.....and the oysters are always fresh!Along with a robust wine menu (Napa is my go to region) they also have a good selection of craft beers on tap along with a 'feature tap' that is usually changed about once a month and of course the RH signature cocktails. If you have a business meeting or family function they have 3 rooms to choose from, Panabaker Room, the Solarium (my go to room for my business meetings, can hold up to 16 people comfortably) and the Honeysuckle Room. A big plus is plenty of on-site parking. We have used all three room for both Family functions (birthdays, confirmation dinner) and business meetings (my Team fly in from all over Canada) and never been disappointed. The patio is open from Spring till early Fall and offers a great view of Wilson Street in historical downtown Ancaster. There is also a bar/lounge area with a big screen TV. Perfect place to wind down from a long day or winding up for a great evening. The staff is very friendly and accommodating.....shout outs to Kevin, Mark (knows his wines), Penny, Chris, Nikki, Connor and of course Owner Operator Andrew. You have earned the right to give this restaurant a try, trust me, you will be back. And....if you use my name, Andrew might just buy you a craft beer on tap!!"

My boyfriend and I love this spot for dinner! New favourite spot for sure. Very classy and delicious tasting food, for a decent price. The patio has a really nice atmosphere as well. Definitely recommend!

My mother and I had brunch here for Mother's Day - delicious and beautifully presented meal, and attentive, friendly service in a renovated heritage house. They also have outdoor dining for those warmer days!

Refined restaurant, good service, very good and well-cooked food. Prices are not expensive, they are the same as those found in other restaurants. It's far away in Ancaster. You have to go by car. The sight is worth it and the place is very safe. View menu

We were tourists in Ancaster and this place looked cute, with a HUGE empty parking lot. At 7:30 on a Sunday night. When we parked to look around a man stuck his head out of the empty restaurant and told us there was no parking!!! Needless to say we chose a different restaurant, and we hope you will too. The pub across the street was excellent with friendly service!

Nice greeting at the door; miserable and condescending male server.Very nice ambiance. Dining room chairs are bottomed out and need replacing. Lovely building. Ample parking. Steak and lobster were both just great, exceptional value for $25. De La Terre bread was amazing, as always, too (no I don't work for them, I just love when I can find their bread in a restaurant!) They need more non-seafood apps IMO.Was an okay experience apart from male server, but would likely not rush back any time soon. View menu

Last night I attended a work dinner in the upper room at the Rousseau house. We were given choices of what we could order. I chose the Caesar salad, chicken and fondant potatoes, and coconut creme brulee. The salad was good and it came with a strip of bacon, which I loved. While the potatoes were delicious as was the corn salsa, the chicken seemed under cooked with a slimy layer on the bottom. I woke up feeling extremely nauseous this morning so of course, the first thing I thought of was the chicken. The coconut creme brulee was very good.

The restaurant is beautiful. Presentation of food was also beautiful. Price of meals were surprisingly decent, BUT the food quality was poor and the service was lacking as well. We had steak and the meat was extremely fatty. I didn't eat a lot of it because it was complete fat. The server checked on us one time throughout our entire experience and then never came back unless we requested him (to order more wine or even simply refills of water). I had to assume he was having a bad day because he really did make me feel like I was bothering him when our table wanted more of anything. Another server replaced him after his shift and she was unbelievably accommodating. Our water was always full a...
