"We had one guest with severe food allergies. She carries a card with her that lists her food. The server didn’t understand this, the manager who took a grand while to come to the table was dismissive. When we finally agreed on steam rice and grilled chicken on a bed of vegetables with the exception of what she was allergic to, it comes with carrots (a specific allergy)! We had requested cutlery- was dismissive so we helped ourselves to one of the server drawers! The restaurant wasn’t busy and yet the server kept forgetting to take our order! We were there on a business lunch break that delayed us another 40 minutes to return to our office."

"Would give a 4.5 if i could but I'll be generous and give 5. I've been eating here for years. the workers are so friendly and service is quick and polite. I'm a huge fan of their poke bowls, they even let you choose up to 10 additional non-protein toppings. i ate here a few times pre-covid and enjoyed it, but revisited it recently and it was still great! The restaurant has sit-down dining now, I think, and the restaurant is clean and classy without being overly bougie. they have a decent sized menu with tons of sushi variety, katsu dishes, tempura, bento boxes, curry chicken, donburi, and noodle soups like ramen, and both soba/udon soap yakisoba/yakiudon. hot and cold appetizers, poke bowls, and more. something I'm not crazy about is that the sushi is the inside-out/American style, rather than maki, and they tend to be rolled rather loosely. it's not an upscale fancy place so don't expect super artisanal luxury Japanese food. Ultimately, Waza is a solid neighborhood spot with a rather large menu and a great place to grab lunch in the area because they have a lot of lunch-special options!"

"Visiting inner Richmond and on our first evening the hostess from High Treason recommended this restaurant. We were greeted immediately and were offered a table in the middle of the room. But I had seen a different table/room (the kind where the seating is as if you are at a low Japanese table but you can put your legs in a pit. He said it was fine add long as we didn't mind going shoeless. Of course. +1 for the host.Our service was attentive and the method of ordering was with a check list of menu items, since it was izakaya and sushi. +1 for service We ordered a variety. The robata items like yakitori, beef yaki (with onion), chicken soft bone. We agreed that these didn't wow us.The sushi was excellent. Especially the salmon nigiri. It was as fresh as you can get. Melted like butter. We got a few rolls and my favorite was the a roll with jalapeno.We also ordered the Agedashi Tofu, chicken karage, and seaweed salad.The overall price for 4 people and walking away full was great! $200 including tip."

"Solid lunch spot VERY fast delivery within the Williamsburg area. Ordered the 15 piece sashimi and a spicy salmon hand roll for lunch. Both items had a nice portion of fish and the hand roll definitely did not skip. The 15 piece sashimi included 4 pieces of fried tofu 1star for me as a sashimi platter IMO should be all fish, not tofu . Also, the two pieces of mackerel sashimi were VERY smelly, definitely not what you want. All in all, I will order from them again and update my review accordingly."

"I rarely value myself, but that literally left me a bad taste. the botanical Ebi(sweet garnel) was anything but and seemed strange 1/2 cooked and slender, but slightly firm. it had a blunt glamour as if it was left out too long and the accompanying fried garnel head was neither completely boiled nor soggy. blurred and could only be half a bit for fear before later. the caption wakamatsu roll was neither inspired nor fresh and simply looked tired (and tasty). Usually I order sushi as a comfort food, and it seems as if it were hard to get simple ingredients wrong, but that was really a disappointment. I really want to say something good about it, so the salmon rolls and sushi were very standard. I still have the bitter taste of the garnel in my mouth. will not order again. my favorite kitchen just made me sad. if not for the high cost of the meal, I would not have forced myself to finish it."

"I ordered a sushi for two and a large beer and asked for water, they served us a soup before the sushi and brought us our beer, no water, I thought this was coming later I didn’t want to ask as she was busy serving other customers, then the sushi arrived we started eat it and it was delicious, we asked for the water and with my surprise after we finished the sushi and just received our water we were given our bill and asked if we were done I don’t know if we did anything wrong asking for the water but looked like she wanted to have the table but I was still drinking my beer and even though we though about ordering more we just left.Also looked liked there were no toilets just as fyiSushi was good however the treatment received was way below standard hence the two stars"

"I had an excellent experience at this restaurant! The food was of outstanding quality, beautifully presented, and offered great value for money. The service was also fantastic. I enjoyed the Sushi Sashimi Combo Dinner, which was fresh, flavorful, and elegant, and featured Shiso leaves—something you rarely find in most Japanese restaurants in the area. Notably, there was more fish than rice! They also offered a wide selection of interesting Mali rolls for those interested. To my surprise, there was an extensive menu of Korean bibimbaps, including the only Okdol Bibimbap I’m familiar with. This dish is served in a very hot stone bowl, allowing the rice to form a crispy layer and enhance the flavors. I can't wait to return to this little gem!"

"I highly recommend trying the Green Dragon Roll; it’s absolutely fantastic and quite filling. The sushi here is excellent, and the fried rice is tasty as well. I also think their steamed vegetable plate is among the best in the area. While their other dishes are good, I don’t particularly like their Ramen—I suggest you try Ramen from a dedicated Japanese Ramen restaurant instead. The atmosphere is pleasant, the restaurant is clean, and the service is quick with friendly staff."

"This is no longer the best sushi place in the city as it used to be. We ordered 3 rolls with salmon and 1 avocado roll to go. The was with Barry bad aftertaste and not skinned properly on the top of the rolls, in another there was a fish bone . The avacado was not ripe and tasted like bark of tree. "Save yourself some time and money and don 't come here. Right off the bat we were greeted by a waiter who said I don 't really work here... but proceeded to take our orders. Confusing. We ordered all of our drinks and sushi, and waited for what felt like forever. When our food finally came out, half of the stuff we ordered was missing. Our waiter kept calling different rolls by the same name, even though they were clearly different. He was also calling rolls by names that weren 't even on the menu, and everybody was confused. We were very clearly missing at least half of what we ordered, and when we got the bill we were charged for everything. We tried talking to the woman in charge to sort everything out, but she was very rude and started to argue with us. We ended up saving ourselves a headache and just paying the full bill, but will definitely not be returning. The rolls we did get were okay, but not worth it at all."

"The takeout was a bit on the expensive side, but it was very tasty. Most of the food stayed hot by the time we got home. I was particularly impressed by the steamed dumplings. The sushi was mostly good, although the rice didn’t have the sticky texture you usually expect from high-quality Japanese restaurants. The shrimp tempura was warm and nearly crispy; I think this dish is best enjoyed fresh from the kitchen. I would definitely order from them again, but I might opt for fewer courses next time since we had quite a bit of leftovers."

"I am so disappointed with this restaurant. I come here all the time and now have decided to not be a customer anymore for a couple reasons.1. They don’t take gluten allergies seriously. For example, take a look at the photo I attached. I told them I was gluten free and they handed me a soy sauce labeled “G.F.” you can clearly see in the ingredients it contains wheat. Wheat contains gluten. Additionally, on a separate occasion, my mom had a similar experience. She has a severe gluten AND soy allergy and she communicated that with the server. The server then brought out the so called “gluten free” soy sauce, and my mom had to tell them to take it away because she’s allergic to soy. The server then said, “it’s gluten free!” and my mom then repeated herself that she’s allergic to soy. The server then said it was gluten free again, and after a long confusing conversation, my mom had to explain to the server the difference between soy and gluten and that they’re two separate things. As a restaurant, you need to be aware of what common allergens are. It’s not just a silly little diet or a fake allergy. If my mom consumes gluten, she has to be hospitalized. She went into anaphylactic shock after accidentally consuming gluten before. It’s serious. There’s no excuses for being uneducated on allergens when you’re serving people food, especially gluten. It’s a very common allergen and there’s so many gluten free alternatives nowadays.2. The quality in food has gone down significantly. The last meal I got, which surely contained gluten, was completely cold when it came out. After I finished eating, I then noticed a bug walking around in my food. Later that night, I got sick, of course. It was horrible.I wouldn’t recommend to come here if you have food allergies. It doesn’t seem they’re educated on allergens and don’t take it seriously."

"Early March 2024, winter bluefin sashimi assortment was beautiful and delicious. Chawan Mushi...nice, Agadashi Tofu...great, dinner for 2 selections were all good. (even the Ika, ha ha ha Consistency... The kids and I enjoyed going to Haru during their school years... On the one evening 3 of us were together, we chose Haru Ichiban. "I've had the pleasure of visiting this place twice, and I'd like to share my thoughts:The ramen was absolutely delicious during my first visit, but unfortunately, it didn't quite hit the mark the second time around.I thoroughly enjoyed the bao buns, veggie rolls, pan-fried gyoza, and dumplings. They were all delicious. My husband was particularly fond of the tuna tataki and hamachi, and my niece couldn't get enough of the plantain roll.During our last visit, we were attended to by Juan Diego, who added a lively touch to our dining experience with his excellent customer service. He even serenaded my niece with a birthday song, which was a nice surprise. However, there was a slight issue with the bill as we paid half with a card and half in cash. I wasn't entirely sure if Juan Diego received the full tip he deserved, as I'm not the best with numbers, but I opted to enter the highest amount on the card machine.On our initial visit, Alejandro took care of me and my husband, and he was equally sweet and attentive.The atmosphere here is family-oriented and casual. During my first visit on a weekend, it was quite crowded, but on my second visit on a Monday night, it was surprisingly empty, with only about four parties present.One piece of advice: arrive with a hearty appetite because the dining experience here is unlimited, and it's well worth it."

"As a huge fan of sushi, I must say that this was the worst sushi restaurant experience I have ever had. I would not recommend this place to anyone. It was a huge disappointment. The rolls (my usual favorites, rainbow and dragon) were dry, chewy, small, and just awful overall. After calling the restaurant to complain, I was told that they couldn't do anything to fix the situation and didn't understand why I found the food unacceptable. They seemed irritated and unwilling to help. It's worth noting that this meal cost $70, which is extremely expensive for the quality of sushi they offer. I've had better rolls from Kroger. There was no apology, no offer to replace the rolls, nothing. As someone who works in customer service, I can say that this experience was incredibly disappointing. I will be taking my business elsewhere and will advise others to steer clear of this place."

"Even though I'm not a sushi expert and have only been to Japan once, I am from New York! I can't compare this place to other sushi restaurants in San Francisco, but I can say that the service here was exceptional. The staff was attentive without being pushy, and when I asked for a recommendation between two rolls, the waiter gave me a great suggestion that I really enjoyed. I'm used to drinking a lot of fresh green tea in Vietnam, so I was pleasantly surprised by their dry green tea. They even let me take a picture of the tea bag to remember it before I leave California. I tried two rolls and they were both excellent. I also had some sushi pieces for some extra protein and they were perfect too. The edamame was fresh and perfectly boiled and salted with kosher salt. The large hot sake was served at just the right temperature, not too hot. Overall, I couldn't imagine anyone being disappointed at this restaurant. It has a cozy and welcoming atmosphere that even made a New Yorker like me feel at home."
