"Even though I'm not a sushi expert and have only been to Japan once, I am from New York! I can't compare this place to other sushi restaurants in San Francisco, but I can say that the service here was exceptional. The staff was attentive without being pushy, and when I asked for a recommendation between two rolls, the waiter gave me a great suggestion that I really enjoyed. I'm used to drinking a lot of fresh green tea in Vietnam, so I was pleasantly surprised by their dry green tea. They even let me take a picture of the tea bag to remember it before I leave California. I tried two rolls and they were both excellent. I also had some sushi pieces for some extra protein and they were perfect too. The edamame was fresh and perfectly boiled and salted with kosher salt. The large hot sake was served at just the right temperature, not too hot. Overall, I couldn't imagine anyone being disappointed at this restaurant. It has a cozy and welcoming atmosphere that even made a New Yorker like me feel at home."

The staff at this restaurant was incredibly friendly and accommodating. They went above and beyond to ensure that my gluten-free sushi was separated from the rest of my order. Fish n Gari offers high-quality sushi. I chose the shrimp tempura roll with avocado, along with the salmon nigiri and egg nigiri. All the dishes were fresh and well-made. The owner and waitress were friendly and accommodating, and the music in the restaurant was pleasant. Just keep in mind that the restaurant is small and can get crowded, especially on weekends. However, it is usually open and spacious on weeknights.

This place is awesome. Excellent friendly customer service from the moment we walked in until the moment we walked out. We loved everything we got--gyoza potstickers, red dragon roll, unagi, yellowtail, and philly. Good priced sushi and beer. Also, second order of hot sake is only $1. Fantastic experience there last night. We showed up with 20 people without reservation and luckily they had place for us. They set up one long table for all of us, and started bringing beers and sake without us asking, then kept bringing more all night long, taking good care of us. Then they started to bring delicious sushis and rolls. In the end we paid $50 per person, which I found quite reasonable given how many drinks we had, and above all how much fun. The owners were very kind and accommodating.

This restaurant is exactly what you want when it comes to sushi. It offers fresh fish, perfect rice, and no unnecessary frills or fanciness. In my opinion, it is the best sushi I have had outside of Japan. The food is simple yet incredibly flavorful, served by a friendly older gentleman and his wife, with their grandson doing his homework at the counter. This restaurant may not be fancy, but it doesn't try to be anything it's not – it simply serves delicious sushi. Despite being located on the other side of the city, I have already returned multiple times and can't seem to get enough.
