"I am very sorry to say, but true Puerto Rican Cuisine has changed for the worst!!! My wife and I went to this place and order the Sancocho that came with Arroz con Gandules and I ordered the Pernil with Arroz Blanco with Habichuelas. On the side we ordered 2 orders of Alcapurrias with Carne (Because on the Website, even though it shows 2 per order on the photo, you only get 1), to me that is false advertisement, but that’s Ok, let’s continue. Here are the problems that we encountered and that honestly, I do not think we are ever going back, and hopefully help someone else make a wise decision! The Sancocho tasted just like a Caldo de Res, nothing more and nothing less. The Arroz with Gandules and the Arroz Blanco was hard, like it came from a batch made earlier, that came out of the refrigerator and then put into the microwave before serving, and to top it off, it was not warmed enough, or maybe it was made fresh but simply uncooked. The Habichuelas had a very good casero (Homemade) taste, but they were cold, again, probably came out of the refrigerator and then not nuked enough. And finally the Pernil, Ohhhhhhh my GOD, it was not even seasoned like a True Puerto Rican Pernil…… There are 5 simple ingredients that go into the pernil. Salt, Pepper, Oregano, Olive Oil and Lots of fresh garlic, and that goes for the lechon as well…….THAT’S IT! Some people add Sofrito, Recaito, Adobo, Sazon and some little and I repeat, some little Citrus. But noooooooooooooo, the cook or the chef had to make his or her own twist or version and added so much into it that it was inedible and unenjoyable. P.S. Beer is too expensive and the Medalla Beer is only 10 ounces (Lite by the way), and not 12 ounces, like the rest like the Coronas! Again, I can only speak from our experience yesterday; maybe hopefully somebody else has a better one than us! GOOD LUCK!!!"
