"I went there on a Thursday and Saturday. Thursday was great, the waitress Grace told of specials and did a great job. I went back on Saturday which was a completely different experience. The waiter, not sure of his name bc he never introduced himself, never really stood at the table, instead was always walking by in the same way a flight attendant would or a server at a busy diner. The main reason I went back was for the muscles. After ordering drinks etc I placed the order for the muscles but they were out, that should have been mentioned in the beginning. Then after eating other apps I placed an order for dinner. Now they were out of one of the three sides that I wanted. Later the owner came over (I believe he was going to every table to ask about how they feel about indoor dining). I told him that I was disappointed that they were out of muscles which was the entire reason I came back. He responded with a description of their air filtration system. Even though I ordered the the main dish after the appetizer arrived, the main dish arrived before they cleared the appetizer dishes, not bc the food came out too fast but bc they never cleared the plates. They also never cleared the dinner plates. Not that I was looking for anything for free but they should have done something since they were out of the food I ordered. In Sum: Terrible service: not sure if the server is really a server (no special explanation, no mention of sold out food, not attentive, no clearing of plates). Owner: should have been more appreciative in words or in something comped that I returned two days later for something they don’t have and was the sole reason I returned. I was so excited about finding a new local restaurant but now I won’t return"

"Very Disappointing! We used to love going to Artisanal but this time we were taken aback and apparently other diners feel the same way. Usually, the restaurant is jam packed but on the night we were there it was maybe 30% at best. Service? It has never been great but now it is worse. Waitstaff is rude and indifferent. Food? It used to be good but now it is AWFUL. The menu has changed and not for the better. We started with the large seafood platter and that was a mistake. For $150 we got 10 oysters and 8 clams they were delicious! 8 teeny tiny shrimp, a teeny tiny lobster tail, a teeny tiny claw, 3 small pieces of crab and a "seafood salad ' that I cannot describe. We usually order this platter at Balthazar and are never disappointed. Here, very disappointed! The seafood salad had ingredients that just do not go w seafood. It left a bad taste in our mouths. Almost Indian type spices???? No mussels, no whelks. We would have been better to order 2 dozen oysters for $72. Onto the main course. No more steak frites! In place, my husband ordered hanger steak and it just wasn 't the same. A strong marinade and no frites! I ordered the lobster with cabbage and it was awful. I sent it back, got onion soup instead and it too was awful! It had an underlying taste like cabbage instead of the rich beefy cheesy onion taste. BTW, w a room in back with pounds and pounds of cheese, they put one skimpy piece of cheese on the soup! Last but least, the wine list was very overpriced! Bottles were extremely overpriced. I had a martini for $21.00 and my husband had a couple of glasses of chardonnay at $18.00 each. Way too much for the amount served and the 'casual bistro ' you 're dining at! I just looked online and realized why I was so disappointed w this awful and very expensive meal $300+ Terrance Brennan sold the restaurant to Sarid Drory. He is one of the original owners of The Waverly Inn and The Cub Room. Well, now there 3 restaurants I will not be returning to! STAY AWAY"

"Located in the heart of Sacramento downtown, Grange is in the Citizen Hotel, a very nice historic hotel in the city. The overall layout of the restaurant is geared towards socializing, with a large open space, long banquettes, a long bar and some high tops. The décor is old world chic, and there is also a private dining room at the back, and some upstairs areas overlooking the main floor. Very cool digs for sure. We dropped in for lunch on a Saturday. The bar was full, but the dining area was near empty. Our server was friendly, but a little distracted, probably due to the lack of customers at that time. Aside from that, the fact that due to the layout, you can see and hear the servers chatting behind what is supposed to be a barrier wall that is actually completely open (more like a designer screen than a wall). We looked at the menu, and determined we were truly not that hungry yet. So, instead of just walking out, we asked to split one of their eggs benedict. The chef did a really nice job on the benedict. It they came out on a 'designed ' plate, each with a side salad to fill the remaining space. The salad was a nice touch. The benedicts were perfectly prepared, and had a southwest flavor. Chorizo instead of Canadian bacon, topped with a chipotle hollandaise and jalapenos. A tasty and welcome surprise. Grange is a bit pricey, but if you are up to a social night out this would be a good choice in my opinion."
