"This was a redo of a past not-so-stellar visit my buddies and I had a year or so back. I don't know if the ownership or the chef changed, but it was like night and day. We had an excellent time. The appetizers were on point. I would say their calamari fritti is the best in the area, and their meatball is absolutely delicious with a tomato gravy that should be it's own appetizer. Our entrees were also excellent. I enjoyed my bolognese even though I would've preferred thinner pappardelle, it was delicious and well seasoned. One of the guys ordered a pretty amazing crab ravioli with a unique corn puree that was surprisingly good and very different. Conversation really disappeared when the entrees came out which is proof of how good the food was...forks didn't hit the table until plates were clean, which is a testament to the skills of the chef and their crew. The deserts were to die for. The key lime cheesecake was excellent. I will say the tiramisu was a bit disappointing but otherwise, everything was awesome. Will definitely return."

"Read the reviews and was really excited to try their food since the hotel desk clerk also recommended it. We arrived at 8:20pm. They watched us get out of the car and walk into the restaurant and instead of greeting us, the girl said they just sat their last customer down and are only taking to go orders. The restaurant advertises a 9pm closing time. Plenty of time to serve another 2 customers since there were only 2 others customers in the restaurant. After being on the road for most of the day, we didn't want to take food to-go to eat in our hotel room so we left. As we got back in the car they turned off the open sign. Maybe the hours should be corrected so they don't have this problem again. ."

"This place has a unique vibe; it’s not your typical bar setting with standardized seating, which makes it feel intimate. Once you arrive, take a moment to relax and enjoy the atmosphere as you watch the time slip away. It's a cozy spot to catch some games or simply enjoy the lively scene of people strolling through downtown Hilo’s Farmers Market. The cocktails here are impressive, the prices are reasonable, and the service is top-notch. I can confidently say it was one of the best happy hours I've experienced. Of course, I couldn’t resist trying some of their delightful appetizers. Two little devils appeared on my shoulders, one urging me to try the Caprese Bites, and they did not disappoint—especially when paired with a slice of prosciutto. Then the other little devil couldn’t help but tempt me with the Smokey Flatbread topped with Smoky Jalapeno. Oh my, I won’t lie—I gave in to my cravings within the welcoming confines of The Temple Bar."

"Did not live up to expectations. Granted my experience was a Thursday night late booking (8 pm , the inside, small area (ore like bistro lounge that dinning room was deserted. There were some groups still in the outside area and it appeared that guitarist and keyboardist were in midst of packing up (special occasion or regularly scheduled early evening live music? . Even though OT booking allowed for 8 pm booking, greeter/hostess had to confirm kitchen had not shut down for the night it had not, provided I ordered promptly. My starter of crab cakes was excellent moist, more crab than cake, with julien of fresh corn kernels, finely chopped cucumber and green peppers and accompanied by a small green salad with red and yellow cherry tomatoes. Very nice indeed. My main was steak frites which was unexceptional in every way but made tolerable by an acceptable Côtés du Rhône. All in all, too pricey for quality delivered."

"Next of Kin has a series of problems that need to be addressed including an inexperienced staff that doesn't abide by diner's requests and doesn't often use common sense. The service was slow and by the time our food was served, it was barely We asked for an outdoor table in the shade. The hostess sat us at an outdoor table in the sun. We asked for additional salad dressing and our server brought a completely different dressing We ordered pizza and saladwouldn't you expect the salad to be brought out while the pizza was cooking? That didn't happen. Both were brought at the same time and by the time our salad was finished, the pizza was cold. Plus, to be candid, the pizza just wasn't very good. Prices are too high for the quality of the food. for fried chicken? Really? I know all restaurants are having problems getting sufficient staff but the training for the staff they do have could be much better. I won't be rushing back here any time soon"

"last weekend, a few friends went out and we went out after the young were finished. we ate at the heat pizza bar. we had a great waiter, a curly hairy guy who served us. I had the wedge salad and my dear nap had the chicken alfredo pizza. our pizza was very delicious. the portions were generous and the desert looked brilliant, a calzone filled with white chocolate, dark chocolate and strawberry, with marshmallows. it looked fabulous, but we were very full of our meal. the only problem we had after we had come home, we learned that we paid in addition to our pizza and our salad for a Thai pizza. so someone in our party of 15 has a free pizza in this night. oh well...read more"

"I thought it was noisy even though it was not busy. Cooling/ ventilation system? Made it difficult to hear. I had the rainbow carrot shareable and it would have been good if the carrots were cooked more. I struggled to cut them with the knife provided and had to leave the wider portions uneaten because I could not cut them. I had paid my bill and was going to finish the last third of my wine when I realized there was a large black fly swimming in it. It was brought to the attention of our server who apologized but did not make an offer to replace even a partial glass of wine. I was dining indoors not outside. Not very good customer service."

"There was some Tonga there named Cat and that was cool because he plays rugby and rugby is badass. I thought he was a Kiwi but alas I was wrong. All of the sudden, right after the extremely friendly staff helped me out with our pizza options, eleven members of the Cobra Kai came at me! Fortunately there was this younger biker gal in a black bandana named Nemo or Miha? Either way, she had superb ninja skills second to none. Between that and the other more tan Hagrid with his magical beenie of infinite wisdom, we made it out safely and satisfied with our choices. If you need a rugby lesson, small white ninja biker skills or awesome thrift store beenie magic, this is the place to go y'all! Otherwise the pizza is also the giraffe's calves. Or the seal heels. "The restaurant recently changed ownership, and despite making a reservation through OpenTable, the new owners were unable to access the reservation. They informed us that it would be a 25-minute wait for a table, but they managed to squeeze us in. However, it took over an hour and a half to finally be seated. Once we were seated, we waited for another 20 minutes without anyone coming to take our order. Frustrated, we decided to leave and ended up going to Applebee's instead. It seemed like we weren't the only ones making the switch. Overall, the service was terrible and we would not recommend this restaurant to anyone."

"Disinterested service and poorly prepared food. Not greeted by any employees when I entered. Stood around looking lost for a few minutes before a hostess addressed me. Only got one check in from a waitress after my food was delivered, and it was towards the end of my meal. The ingredients for the skillet were chopped too coarsely. There were bite sized chunks of green peppers. Gets lower rating for falling so far short of expectations set by other reviews and word of mouth. The chairs in the dining room are a neat style, but I think too uncomfortable for public dining. My elderly parents probably wouldn't be able to enjoy themselves in these chairs."

"My first time here and I will say that it was wonderful. I met my family who I haven't seen in a while. The server was patient even though we couldn't decide on food because we were catching up with each other. He kept drinks and appetizers flowing and was very cordial. I originally ordered the fish, but as it was almost ready, he came out to say that it wasn't looking very fresh so asked if I wanted to order something else. Even though I ordered a different dish, my food came out just as quickly as everyone else at the table. Delicious food, great drinks, lovely ambience and awesome service!"

"We had an amazing dining experience! 3 years ago we'd had the opposite, every aspect of our dining experience was flawed very long waits, hostess/serving staff being inattentive, quality of food (from apps through entre to desserts) was lackluster atbest, and medium/small portions. I had left them a 1 Star review. They invited us back to give them another try, and we are soglad we did! They have turned a complete 180° from the previous experience the service was impeccable, the fondue appetizerwas delicious and well balanced, as were our entries (we had the Steak Salad, subbing the vinaigrette with Blue Cheese, and theChicken Fettuccine). Portions are perfect, except for the Fettuccine, which is easily enough for TWO meals! The salad's steakwas cooked perfectly to order. For Drinks, we had the Blueberry Lemon Drop and Mule, both were great with the dinner. Our onlycomplaint was we were too full to enjoy any dessert this time! We Highly recommend! It also sounds like they're hosting somegreat events that would be perfect for kids during the Holiday season. In a town full of great restaurants, this is definitelyone worth coming to!"
