"Did not live up to expectations. Granted my experience was a Thursday night late booking (8 pm , the inside, small area (ore like bistro lounge that dinning room was deserted. There were some groups still in the outside area and it appeared that guitarist and keyboardist were in midst of packing up (special occasion or regularly scheduled early evening live music? . Even though OT booking allowed for 8 pm booking, greeter/hostess had to confirm kitchen had not shut down for the night it had not, provided I ordered promptly. My starter of crab cakes was excellent moist, more crab than cake, with julien of fresh corn kernels, finely chopped cucumber and green peppers and accompanied by a small green salad with red and yellow cherry tomatoes. Very nice indeed. My main was steak frites which was unexceptional in every way but made tolerable by an acceptable Côtés du Rhône. All in all, too pricey for quality delivered."

The service was friendly, the food was excellent, and the ambiance was beautiful. The French onion soup and the chicken salad croissant served with a side salad made for a perfect lunch. View menu

The place was dead. It was a beautiful day but we couldn’t eat outside because the dining was on a busy traffic corner. The waiter saved the day. He was very attentive and a nice guy. The restaurant is part of a hotel so it may be just fine and lively when the guests are there.

we have received our table earlier than the reservation. ordered drinks and eating and it quickly came to the table. However, the server never came back to the table to see if we needed anything else (I wanted one after the eating tee) and we had to get the server to pay our bill. disappoint! View menu

What a wonderful dining experience! The croquettes were extraordinary, and the branzino was excellent. The Gamay wine we had was fantastic. If I'm being picky, our server could have been a bit more attentive and poured our wine for us, but overall it was a very pleasant experience. The ambiance on the terrace was beautiful. Thank you! We will definitely be coming back.

Lovely small interior dining room and outdoor terrace if you don't mind all of the traffic noise at this busy intersection. Food was good and service leisurely but attentive. We had chosen this venue because we all wanted to have a quiet conversation. However the acoustic guitarist was amplified much too loudly which actually ruined the entire evening for us. Although we requested the volume be turned down it was so loud that he could have been entertaining 50 instead of 10. We will not return as this was disappointing. Soft music in the background would have been nice and more in keeping with the stylish dining room.

"Date Night ASA Restaurant has two locations in the Bay Area and their Los Gatos location earned a Michelin Bib Gourmand recognition This was my first dining experience at their more north location in downtown Los Altos With high ceilings and heart themed adorned menus, this was a perfect spot for a Valentine’s week dining experience The menu here is slightly different from the Los Gatos location and I’ve heard that the two locations may not be as closely affiliated when they first opened I loved the appetizers and particular loved the anchovy bread with two different anchovy types topped on crisp, warm bread. The Dungeness crab appetizer was also excellent For entrees, I opted for ASA’s signature exotic mushroom pasta that is on both the Los Gatos and Los Altos menu As a fungi fan, I absolutely love this dish and it’s one of the best pasta dishes in the South Bay and Peninsula The only miss was their special of the day of striped bass over risotto. The purple yam purée was sour and the risotto dry with zero moisture or liquid and more like a cooked rice dish than a risotto ASA is a fantastic destination for the Bay Area and while the prices are elevated, they reflect elevated cuisine (and high ceilings) Smoked and Stoned $16 Anchovy Bread $16 Dungeness Crab Toast $36 Special Striped Bass over Risotto ASA’s Exotic Mushroom Pasta $34 ASA Restaurant (Los Altos, CA) Reservations are recommended on Opentable and dining is indoor only. Credit cards including AmEx are accepted."

"The experience here from start to finish was pretty odd, and the service was bad. Menus weren't brought to us for a long time, they apologized when they eventually gave the menus to us. The restaurant was nearly empty aside from one other table, but everything was slow. We weren't checked in on at all during the meal. When we ordered, the waitress was very confused and unfamiliar with the menu. I assumed she was new, but then we received the same confusing service from all staff. We were randomly brought French fries that we didn't order, and then that kept happening with various other menu items The veggies in all the dishes were cold and tasted watery, unseasoned, and like they had been frozen. Scallion pancakes had no scallions in them at all. Basil eggplant dish had no basil at all. Smoothie wasn't blended properly: all ice at the bottom, and only a super sweet watery liquid would come through the straw. It tasted like the same overly-processed sauce was on every dish, nothing felt fresh. The kimchi rice was a good menu item, but it didn't really taste like kimchi. Just seasoned rice. Appetizer and drinks were brought out after we finished everything. A staff member tried to argue with us when we wanted to send something back. When we paid and thanked them, they didn't say a word to us or even look in our direction, and didn't give us a customer copy of the receipt."
