"This place has the vibe of a previous Western Sizzling, with an obsession with trains, specifically the 611. They serve Coke products, although the Coke is slightly 'watered down' in taste, served in small glasses. The servers while friendly and mostly attentive don't all wear the same uniform. Some wearing the 611 t-shirt, while others wearing plain clothes. Buffet bar includes a salad, vegetable, soup, taco, and dessert section with ice cream machine. Only meat on the buffet is the taco meat. Nothing special about the buffet selections, all seem to be Sysco supplied with a very commercial taste. The chili beans had dried out on top and looked like they could have been stirred up - not really something that they stay on top of to keep the bar appetizing. Soup selections included overly chunky vegetable soup, and potato soup. The potato soup was pretty bland even after adding bacon bits, chives, and cheese. Most items do not include the bar, but it can be added for around $3.50. We ordered steak and the cook temps were way off. I ordered medium rare and it came out medium; very medium and on the border of medium well. The cover the low quality of the meat with a salt seasoning that did make it taste a little better. When entering, there is a meat case with steaks in it; these are by far NOT the same steaks that will arrive to your table. Rolls to the table while your waiting, with the good honey butter. If they aren't busy your main food will be out before you can eat your salad. All in all not to expensive and you can get a good variety at a decent price. This is a nice family spot, not somewhere you would take a hot date trying to impress them."

"This restaurant was one of the first places I visited when I moved back to Wisconsin. I missed my Friday night Fish Fries and my new roommate said this was a popular place. He was definitely right. The place was packed when we got there (no reservations taken) and we ended up waiting about 1/2 hour before being seated. Was the food worth waiting for? YES! Crispy battered fish with a flaky tender middle...I was in fish fry heaven. I believe it came with a potato pancake, applesauce, coleslaw and a slice of rye bread. I ordered the pistachio torte for dessert, and although it was tasty, I was expecting something different. My German background says a torte is layers of cake with filling, but this was just basically pistachio pudding, layered with whipped cream and cake. More like what you might bring to a potluck dinner than a restaurant dessert. Yes, I ate it all, and it was tasty... just not what I expected. The other nice thing about the restaurant is the wide selection of cocktails and beer. Which isn 't surprising, since it is a bar and grill. I had a satisfying dark beer that was perfect with my fish fry. I 've been back several times and although it is always busy, it still is one of my favorite restaurants. But I still can 't figure out why it is called the Scenic Bar ... it 's on a street corner, not by the lake or river. Absolutely nothing scenic about it."
