"Food was good, service was not. I don’t know if it’s because of how I looked (wearing a hat, pierced septum, upper arm tattoo) or because I was by myself but I got almost no attention at all from my server, Julia. She seemed pretty hurried, why I don’t know. The place wasn’t full and there seemed to be other servers on staff, so not sure why she was so rushed. There was an awkward beat when she first came to my table. She didn’t ask what if I was ordering beverages first, just introduced herself and then stood there waiting with pen and paper ready. Once my food came out I pretty much never heard from her again until I forced eye contact to get her attention for the check. She never asked how the food or drink were. She did top off my coffee, without saying anything to me of course. I heard her joke around with 3 guests at another table, which made me wonder if it was my appearance that was off putting or the fact that I was alone. I’m a pretty well compensated software engineer and have worked in the food industry and retail before. It’s rare that I leave a tip less than 20%, but I did this time. Would’ve left less than I did but I didn’t want to validate any potential biases. The greeter was kind and cordial. The other staff were also polite. Would’ve liked to have had any of them as my server."
