"Josie Kelly’s may not be the most famous (or infamous) NJ Irish pub, but in my opinion it’s the best, by a Cork County mile. It’s quite large so you never feel crammed here, and with four dining areas, a large live music room and plenty of free parking the stage is set for greatness. Then there’s the food and drinks. Nothing here is just thrown together or simply rehashed from a corner bar menu. And most of the menu is gluten free so that anyone with a gluten intolerance can eat here safely. This is Irish pub food done by a chef — not a cook. There’s a nice wine selection, thoughtful and delicious cocktails, and a strong roster of craft beers, incl many local choices. I might suggest the Alibi 75 cocktail, made with that namesake’s gin, or the peanut butter cup for dessert. As to the food? Think upscale twists to a traditional pub menu and you’re right on target. The burgers and sandwiches are what we’ve had mostly, and all are excellent. For the Turkey sandwich, it would be so easy to just slap some reheated Turkey slices onto some bread, add bacon and avocado and call it a day. But no, the Turkey here is super tender and flavorful — as if your granny just popped the bird from the oven.Even the gluten free sandwich bread and buns are delicious not the usual dry crumbly stuff). If you find yourself in south Jersey, between AC and Ocean city, make a detour into Josie Kelly’s. You will be so glad you did."
