"We went for our 35th anniversary dinner, a notation of which was made at the time of booking the reservation, and confirmed upon our arrival. Big mistake. Huge. The wait staff were kind, but completely clueless. The service was painfully slow and hardly attentive, despite the fact that there was only a handful of tables seated. We were served a miniature bread basket with miniature pieces of miniature rolls that had been cut into quarters...probably hours (days? before. They were so hard and stale that they were inedible. When we mentioned it to our server, she suggested that it was because they were placed under a heat lamp (what, yesterday? , but neglected to offer us anything fresh to replace it. The pork belly appetizer was dry and pretty tasteless. The sea bass was so dry that it was inedible, and I couldn't even cut through the upper crust because it was so overcooked. A replacement entree wasn't offered, and I had to get a visit from the manager after the meal to get it removed from our bill. Lucky for me that my husband wasn't too hungry, as he offered me half of his steak. We chose the chocolate cake for the dessert they comped us in honor of our anniversary (though there were no celebratory good wishes forthcoming . The cake was as dry as sand, and the frosting was equally flavorless. We couldn't finish it. Not surprisingly, on our way out (and we had to stand and move toward the door before we found someone to give us our check , the two recently vacated tables near ours (still uncleared BOTH had unfinished portions of the same cake left on them. Pretty disappointing, given not only how pricey the menu is, but not a great celebration of our 35 years of marriage."

"Review of The Fed Restaurant, Clarkston, MI The Fed, nestled in the heart of Clarkston, is a dining establishment that intertwines history and contemporary ambiance. One cannot help but admire the charm of the retained original vault, which adds a distinctive touch to the restaurant 's aesthetic. This vintage element coupled with the modern décor crafts an inviting atmosphere, promising a memorable experience for diners. However, a restaurant is not solely about its ambiance; it 's the culmination of service, food, and atmosphere. On this front, there were areas where The Fed faltered during our visit. Service, often the backbone of a dining experience, left much to be desired. Despite being first-timers eager to explore their offerings, our waitress checked on us a mere two times. Such infrequent attention does leave patrons, especially those new to the establishment, feeling somewhat neglected. The culinary journey was a mixed bag. On one hand, the shrimp alfredo was presented well, but the accompanying bread was a letdown. Burnt not once, but twice, it detracted from the overall enjoyment of the dish. This oversight raises concerns about the consistency in the kitchen. The salmon, though decently prepared, was overshadowed by sauces that didn 't quite hit the mark on flavor. Further attention to detail was needed in the upkeep of the establishment itself. In a setting that markets itself as more upscale in the Clarkston dining scene, burnt-out light bulbs in multiple fixtures seemed out of place. Such a simple oversight can influence the overall perception of the venue. Considering the price point of $125 for our meal, the expectations were naturally elevated. While The Fed offers an intriguing atmosphere and shows potential, the dining experience was inconsistent. A little more attention to detail, both in service and culinary execution, would go a long way in elevating the establishment to its perceived stature. Would we return? Perhaps, in hopes of a more consistent experience. But for now, The Fed left us with mixed feelings."

"This was quite possibly the worst dining experience ever. I should have known to run, but being NYE we didn’t have many other options. I had made an 8:30pm reservation over a month ago then when we checked in I was told it’s now a prix fixe menu and the regular ala carte menu would not be available. I questioned why I wasn’t made aware of this and was told it was emailed to me. I checked my emails and didn’t see it so perhaps it went to spam, but don’t you think jumping to a $235.00 per person menu is worthy of a phone call?! Because our options were limited being NYE, we decided to stay. Mistake number one! It’s was ridiculously hot in the restaurant, like stuffy, uncomfortable hot! The lights were bright even though it was NYE at 8:30pm total ambiance killer! Then there’s the food…..best way to describe it would be banquet wedding food. Very apparent everything was made in advance, including the halibut which was ridiculously dry and the sides for the steak entree were very apparently the last of the last to be plated in the banquet kitchen. Essentially once we were served the place was empty and staff was scurrying around preparing for morning breakfast service, I assume. The server tried her best and was very pleasant but holy cow was this place a hot mess! Our bill was $1500.00 before gratuity I couldn’t even get myself to say a single thing because all I wanted to do was to get the hell out of there. This place desperately needs help. Oh and PS the salt and pepper shakers were a clue of the lack of care being, they were half empty and dirty. Gross!"

"Rating: Market Place Kitchen and Bar in Avon, CT, presents an inviting and aesthetically pleasing environment. The decor is well thought out, combining modern elements with a cozy, welcoming vibe that makes for a pleasant first impression. The ambiance suggests a high-end dining experience, but unfortunately, the service and food quality didn't quite meet those expectations during our visit.Upon arrival, it was apparent that the establishment was understaffed. There were very few servers managing a relatively large number of diners, which became evident as we waited an unusually long time just to place our order. Our server, while incredibly kind and attentive, was visibly overwhelmed. She had to extend herself across multiple rooms, which made it challenging for her to provide the level of service she clearly wanted to deliver. The wait for our food was extensive—nearly an hour or more. When it finally arrived, the quality was disappointingly inconsistent. The Caesar salad lacked dressing, rendering it bland and unappealing. My short rib sandwich was another letdown; it was devoid of any seasoning and served on stale focaccia, which significantly detracted from the overall experience. Other members of our party also expressed dissatisfaction with their meals, citing similar issues of blandness and poor preparation. While the decor and initial ambiance of Market Place Kitchen and Bar set a high bar, the combination of understaffed service and subpar food makes it difficult to recommend. Despite the efforts of our well-meaning server, the overall experience fell short. With some adjustments to staffing levels and a focus on improving food quality, this restaurant has the potential to live up to its promising appearance. For now, however, it remains a mixed experience at best."
