"I found a seat at the bar and met a nice elderly couple from Massachusetts who were also waiting for their table. After about 20 minutes, I was able to place my order. However, I wasn't really enjoying the bar seating experience. The smell of bleach and dirty mop water was incredibly overpowering, and I found it distracting that the bartender had to make every drink right in front of me. But I digress.
I ordered a small Chicago classic pizza, even though a part of me wished I had stuck with my original choice of a personal pan pizza, but it was too late for that. I was informed that the pizza takes about 20 minutes to make, which I totally understood. When it arrived, I thought it was just okay. Personally, it had too many tomatoes for my taste, and it didn't seem to have extra cheese like I had hoped. The lean sausage was definitely the highlight; it seemed to be a patty placed on top, ensuring you got sausage in every bite.
However, the crust was a bit too thick for my liking. It was definitely better when it was fresh out of the oven. I took two pieces to go, but cold deep dish pizza is really not the best experience. I’m not sure if I’m a fan, but I would definitely be willing to try another Chicago staple if I visit again."
