"I 've been looking for somewhere like Del Carmen ever since I moved to Chicago a few years back. Holy moly. This one really is the definition of a hole-in-the-wall spot. Isolated shopping center, but slanging some of the best Mexican food in the area. This one definitely bring back late night college memories back in Southern California. Not much of a spot to dine in asthere 's only a handful of bar seats along the window, but takeout is the name of the game here. Anyways, what keeps me comingback here for more you say? The breakfast burrito and tacos! Breakfast burrito consists of a large flour tortilla stuffed with ahealthy eggs, chorizo, rice, cheese, green peppers, and onions. Oddly enough they don 't open early enough for breakfast, but dooffer all their breakfast items all day. Tacos come with your choice of meat with cilantro and onions or you can opt forAmerican style with lettuce, cheese, tomatoes. In my opinion, meat, onions, cilantro is where it 's at. They do offer both redand green sauces on the side to pour on for each bite. Other dishes worth noting... The Tres Amigos plate which is basicallythe trifecta combo of a NY steak strip, oversized grilled chicken, shrimp served with rice, beans, and tortillas. And theMojarra Frito, their whole fried tilapia over fries with butter garlic sauce also served with rice, beans, andtortillas. Anyways, if the sauces/salsas are packed into those mini solo cups and the large horchata is the size of a doublebig gulp, you know it 's going to be good. 'Til next time, cheers!"

"Now you see it, then you don 't. I became acquainted with Top-Notch Beefburgers when they made an appearance on the Chicago 's Best television show. But that segment was all about Top-Notch 's restaurant in Oak Lawn. So what happened? Not long afterward, the Top-Notch in Oak Lawn closed because of dwindling sales. But the Top-Notch at 2116 West 95th Street in the Beverly neighborhood, between South Hoyne and South Hamilton, continues to produce a plethora of fresh and juicy and tasty sandwiches, including the quarter-pound beefburger with cheese, the quarter-pound turkey burger, the grilled chicken, the deluxe Mexican burger, the Italian sandwich with mozzarella cheese and marinara sauce and green pepper, the barbecue beef sandwich, the beef au jus, corned beef melt, grilled catfish, Reuben melt, grilled pork chops and home-made tuna sandwich. Wash it all down with a 24-ounce chocolate milk shake. Since the burgers attract most of the attention, the breakfast often is overlooked. That is a mistake. An egg with corned beef hash or a sausage links and egg sandwich or strawberry topped pancakes or two buttermilk pancakes with a large scrambled egg and sausage links is a great way to start a busy day. Nowadays, I prefer turkey to red meat. And Top-Notch 's turkey burger hits the spot with the house 's own seasoning, a slab of Mozzarella cheese, lettuce, tomato, mayo, pickle and a raw onion. Very moist and very healthy. Let 's hope the Beverly restaurant stays in business for as long as they can make turkey burgers."
