"I came here for Mother’s Day, and it was disappointing. Seems the restaurant had trouble keeping up with the capacity or was unprepared. The food was bland and the deserts were limited. I have been here before on a non-holiday and it was excellent! This time, they bought cake from the grocery store versus variety traditional Indian dessert-lots of paper plates, cups and utensils. It felt like the emphasis was more about turning tables than holding the quality standard I know this restaurant is capable of. For $35 per person buffet, I think they could have done much better. Staff was great but overwhelmed. I suggest NOT going on a major holiday."

"This review is strictly on the service as the food has remained consistently good. I've also taken as much time as possible to allow for as an objective experience as possible. When the owners/staff are speaking animatedly and with more energy with other Indian patrons who are sitting at the bar--whether or not they are family friends, etc, but go completely silent when they serve, that's a red flag. I was in the mood for Indian food and was in the area running errands, so I decided to stop by. I didn't really think much of the interaction initially when I walked in and was seated, but this question is directed mainly at the man and woman whom I've seen the last two times I've been here. Is there a reason for the difference in demeanor? There was another family who came in and were seated for dinner shortly before I left, and I noticed they were treated the same way--with complete silence. I'd consider this a nuance of this place specifically since I've been to Indian restaurants in Diamond Bar, Ontario, and Pomona, and there are distinctly more interactive. I wouldn't consider this a nuance of introversion based on what I've seen or heard. I'm not looking to have a heart-to-heart conversation but at least have a basic level of interaction like a thank you or welcome. I thanked the man each time my water was refilled, and I also said thank you when leaving. NO REPLY at any point, and this is not an exaggeration or embellishment of the experience. This has been consistent. If you're going to order for takeout, you're fine. If you're good with silence, you're fine too. I'll stick with Curryland in Pomona. That's a rougher part of Pomona in a small and dense parking lot. The food there is just as good, and least there's an inkling of customer service. I'm done with this place."

"The staff at Mantra were incredibly helpful and friendly, easily earning 5 stars. They offer a midday buffet for just $10, with plenty of vegetarian options. However, many authentic South Indian dishes use ghee, so most vegetarian dishes are not vegan. At the buffet, I enjoyed the dal, basmati rice, and potato fritters. There was also a small salad with sweet and Indian sauces featuring tamarind and coriander. As an Indian, I expected the use of ghee in many dishes, which was a bit frustrating for those seeking vegan options. Beyond the buffet, the menu itself includes several vegan dishes—about five—just ask which ones are suitable. Overall, the food was delicious!"

"This a long one so please read on. I'll start with the good The service was great The portion sizes are large The cook on the steak was accurate All in all The food was okay at best. (5/10) On to the bad Honestly the steak at char house was the tastiestthing on the table. But that isn't saying a lot. The meat of the ribeye was choice grade at best but they did get the cookcorrect so plus points there. I do see now why there aren't prices on the menu that the qr code takes you to because it reallyisn't worth it. There was a lack of seasoning which makes me think that the kitchen was afraid of using any. Almost all the foodwe had was nowhere near how it was described on the menu. This is one of those places that has the same base for all theircurries. The food We started off the experience with stale Papadum which is an Indian crisp and a side of chutneys which tastedwatered down. The chutneys lacked any prominent flavors and they tasted the same if you ate them with your eyes closed, the onlything that set them apart was their color. The achar was definitely not made in house but store bought it actually tasted massproduced. TLDR the amount of food you get is good but the quality is trash. If you're looking for flavorful food give thisplace a hard pass. Especially given how expensive it is. It seems like they are afraid of using spices and seasoning. Theapps The wings (7/10) full wings. only 3 pieces tho (technically 6, 3 flats 3 drums) small but the sauce was good butdefinitely not worth $9. The ceviche (2/10) it lacked flavor and it really should not be served on a crisp. All the moisturewas absorbed by the crisp and what was left was a very dry pile of shrimp and fish. There was no seasoning at all. The seasonedmasala fries. (8/10) seasoned fries which is the most seasoning we experienced the entire night. "This is the best Himalayan food you'll ever have! Everything tastes fantastic and comes in very generously sized portions. The Chicken Tikka Masala and Chicken Korma are incredible. All of the types of naan are wonderful and very plush. The staff is fantastic and very friendly. I will definitely be back and highly recommend bringing your friends and family here!! Not to mention we had asked for one of the dishes to be spicy and after eating he said he forgot to add the spiciness to which he made a whole new spicy one without us even asking for free!! Blown away by such an amazing experience!"

"I have patronized this Indian restaurant since 2002 and loved their (pre covid) weekday lunch buffets, which has been discontinued in the era of the covid pandemic. What brings me back over the years is the exquisitely prepared, well seasoned and tasty cuisine from different parts of India, as well as the wonderful and welcoming hospitality of the Patels. Vegetarians will find a wide range of vegetarian options. I love their vegetarian thali. For this review, my dining companion and I came for our first in person post covid lockdown dinner and ordered our favorites see accompanying photos. The masala chai has the perfect balance of Indian black tea, milk, and cardamom. The vegetarian mulligatawny soup (also available with chicken) is my favorite Indian comfort food soup a hearty South Asian/Tamil soup of lentils, tomatoes, and spices. The curry chicken has the right balance of coconut milk and curry spices and tastes perfect with the naan and paratha (unleavened whole wheat) bread. The tandoori chicken is their signature dish and is tender, juicy, and mouthwatering. For dessert, the kheer (rice pudding with milk and cardamom) is my dining companion's favorite while I love the kulfi (made with sweetened milk and pistachios, slowly cooked and then quicky frozen). It is a testament to the excellent food that keeps me coming back regularly for more since 2002 to the present (2021). I have eaten in so many Indian restaurants in North America, Malaysia, Singapore, and Australia, and I am so proud to say that Tandoor's offerings are as authentic as it gets, without the Americanization."

"This place is the REAL deal. After going here my wife and I wanted more... We wound up in Kathmandu and Pokhara in Nepal. There is no place else like this gem in NoVA. Dine in guests will be treated to Nepalese pickles which are a must, as well as Sal Roti (rice flour based doughnut ring). My recommendation is to try anything with the Wild Boar meat. Also the crispy kale, aloosadeko (potato dish), and Momo dumplings. When they have Yak meat try it though it is very lean and doesn't have much flavor. The decor and ambiance are very minimalist, but the people and the atmosphere are very authentic. You will be back with some regular cadence. 10 stars out of 5."

"With in-person dining suspended, the kind of containers restaurants use has taken on a new importance for those of us trying to minimize our environmental footprint. We really appreciate Gurkhas’ use of all compostable containers. They asked us if we needed cutlery and did not include it per our request. Unlike some other reviewers’ experience, we have found them to be very knowledgeable about vegan options, even saying on the phone that they would omit the mint chutney for our samosas but include the dairy-free tamarind. Our receipt clearly showed the no dairy instructions to the kitchen, and they can sub coconut milk for dairy in most dishes. This may be our new go-to spot in town after Flavor of India sent us an order of meat samosas."

"We had a fantastic dinner! The chai and lentil soup were complimentary, and the service was excellent. We dined on the patio out back, which had a quirky yet comfortable ambiance. There was a small mix-up with our orders – I ordered a mild chana paneer but received my boyfriend's hot version, while he got my mild dish. However, we both loved the garlic naan; it was outstanding. We will definitely recommend this place to our friends!"

"Wow. just wow. First time here. We arrived at 8:20pm and from the outside, felt a little skeptical since it was empty and looked like cafeteria style. But we were craving Indian food and so went in and up to the counter to check out the menu. We asked for recommendations as well as non dairy options and were immediately told that they could make adjustments as needed. Always appreciate the effort. Ordered samosas, shrimp saag with no dairy, chicken palak, kadai chicken, rice and garlic naan. More than enough for 2 people, but we wanted to try. Everything was cooked fresh to order, packed and ready to go in 20min. When we loaded it in the car, we just knew the garlic naan was going to live up its name. And when we got home and dug in, wow. Just wow. It was all sooo good. Nothing too strong, too spicy, too bland it was all perfectly seasoned. And the chicken in the curries?? I can't believe how tender. So good that I paused mid meal to write this because it would be a crime to not give credit where it is due. Back to eating now, and we will definitely be back!! Thank you good sir for all your recommendations!"

"During our visit, the only other customers were three older ladies and a woman with a young child who wouldn't stop screaming. I noticed the suspected owner of the restaurant sitting at a table by the window, working on his laptop, with a framed picture of Guy Fieri on the floor next to him—perhaps it should've been hanging on the wall instead? His phone calls made for an uncomfortable atmosphere. The waitress seemed fine, though her casual t-shirt and jeans didn’t project a professional image. She was friendly enough. The overall ambiance felt rather lifeless; some light Indian music would have really enhanced the experience. The decor definitely needs improvement, and the absence of mini hanging sunshades and loud clattering of dishes didn’t help. We might consider returning on a weekend to give it another shot, but as it stands, I’d rate this experience a 4/10."

"This fine Indian restaurant is a delight for people eating a plant based diet. I love the wide variety of dishes in the vegetarian section of the menu that actually are priced cheaper than its meat-containing counterpart. The vegetable malai kofta, paneer butter masala, navratan shahi korma, and paneer korma are among my favorites. The curry dishes come in a large metal bowl, and it's enough for me to always get 3 meals out of this portion size, paired with really good garlic naan. All of the servers I've had are wonderful. The only consistent drawback of the dining experience here is how it seems like I have to wait almost an hour to receive my food, every time I come. Sometimes I do notice that nearby tables which were seated after me, they receive their food before me. I understand that the pandemic causes significant staffing shortages, so I will not reduce the rating at all for that. Despite this, Tandoor is stellar and remains high on my dining-out list."

"The lamb samosas were AHMAYZING not too gamey, lots of flavor. Their mint chutney and tamarind sauce are a must with the samosas! Our butter chicken and paneer spinach dish (palak masala saag) was super flavorful and right on point. The paneer naan could use a tad more salt to bring out the paneer flavor, but very enjoyable all the same. The mango lassi was perfect. I hardly ever comment on the interior of places, but the bright orange interior leaves something to be desired; at least the lighting is mood lighting so the orange isn't tooo bad but I'd personally go with a sage green for that place.
