"Ready for a delicious dinner not really!Full disclosure, I am German but have been living in CA for more than 20 years. Whoever describes the food as authentic either never had the same dishes in Germany or forgot how they are supposed to be prepared. We ordered Kässpätzle, Döner Kebab and Currywurst.Let's start with the Kässpätzle; I thought we got the wrong dish. We got a mini-portion of something not remotely the same as regular Kässpätzle. My daughter who loves them, had two bites and refused to eat this $15 appetizer, my son had what they call a Döner, and he was happy to find any chicken in there. The Curry Wurst was a decent sausage but not a real Currywurst. $19 20% mandatory tip for a dish you can buy (just better) for 5 Euro all over Germany. So, why not 1 star? The variety of mostly German beer is great for those who go there for the beer! Soft drinks are ginger root based alternative beverages, no refills and $4 for a 8 ounce bottle. We live in San Jose and there is a German restaurant called Ludwigs which has a similar menu. Gave them a good review because their food is much better, tips must be earned not granted, they exist with about the same prices in a high cost environment and they thrive. In a nutshell, this restaurant is NOT authentic, serves overpriced mediocre food and mandates 20% tip.btw. service at Brot was very good despite of all. The best part of the whole restaurant."

"We have been going here from almost the beginning. They were 5 star at the beginning. You will pay more here than other restaurants for similar dishes which was ok when everything was 5 stars. Our go to was either the charcuterie plate or the raw bar tower. The charcuterie used to be a variety of meat and cheeses as well as a variety of accompaniments. It has evolved into one meat, one cheese, a nut a little pickled onion and crackers. The raw bar tower is a ridiculous $180. They also used to offer a minimum of 4 varieties of oysters. If you eat oysters you know that where they come from effect how they taste. They now only offer 2 varieties, pemaquid and patriot, they are from different areas (the cape and maine) but they were briney and super briney. If you are only going to offer two varieties they should have different effects on your pallete. On a positive note, the server was attentive which is why we gave 5 star for service. The mussels though not our guests favorites said they had good flavor and cooked perfectly. The lobster roll was small and in a hot dog roll for $32. We went to a different local restaurant last night and picked our meal choice knowing we were coming here tonight and noticed what we ordered last night were significantly cheaper then it would have been if we ordered it here tonight. Long story short, this used to be our place to splurge on an expensive dinner. There are other places to get better food and a more reasonable price. And again I will mention as I have done in many reviews, this is the only seafood restaurant on the seacoast that you can not get clams in any fashion. Not to mention, this seafood restaurant only serves whole lobsters on Saturday and Sunday and was out of whole lobsters today at 5pm being so close to the rye fisherman's peir."
