"Last week, my friend Chas and I met up at the Ruth's Chris location in Parsippany, New Jersey. While Chas had been to a Ruth's Chris before, it was my first time. I was cautiously optimistic about our visit. I have tried many great steaks at various steakhouses across the country, but often find that I can make a similar steak at home. We started our meal with some cocktails. Chas ordered an Old Fashioned, so I decided to try a Manhattan for comparison. Typically a fan of Old Fashioneds, I was pleasantly surprised to find that the Manhattan was better. A tip for Old Fashioned lovers - the bar inside the hotel next to the restaurant makes a good one. I didn't order an appetizer myself, but I sampled the Ruth's chopped salad and Lobster Bisque from my friends. The salad was creatively plated and had good flavors, while the Lobster Bisque was creamy with a strong lobster taste. Although I wouldn't personally pay for these appetizers, they were not bad at all. For our main course, Samantha and I shared the Porterhouse for Two, accompanied by fried potatoes and grilled asparagus for the table. The steak was cooked perfectly to medium rare and had a delicious buttery flavor. The grilled asparagus was decent, but nothing remarkable. For dessert, I tried the Ruth's Coffee, which was similar to the Cappuccino from Bern's Steakhouse in Tampa, Florida. It was a delightful drink that I would definitely order again. Dining at Ruth's Chris Steakhouse is on the pricier side, but if the food and drinks are as good as they were during our visit, it's worth it. Overall, our experience at Ruth's Chris Steakhouse was very enjoyable."

"My husband and I would go to Ruth's Chris for our anniversary and birthdays on a regular basis over the last 20 years. We live close by in Garden City so it was convenient and the food and service were always the best. We stopped going during COVID and hadn't been back until now, for my husband's 70th birthday. The ambience changed since then and although I liked the new look , my husband didn't. He liked the old mural on the wall with the tiger and I thought the new lighter look and new ceiling lights were nice. I gave ambience only four stars because I'm combining my opinion and my husband's together in one review! Food was delicious as always. My husband raved about the ravioli appetizer and both of our steaks were delicious, but my husband couldn't get over the $71 charge for a 16 ounce steak, even with inflation. I gave the rating for value four stars for that reason and also because I felt the drinks are overpriced. Service was fine and our waiter was a friendly young man. I gave service four stars because we waited quite a while for our food. It was a Friday night and very busy, and although our appetizer was served fairly quickly, our steaks arrived about 30-40 minutes after we finished our appetizer. I was used to Ruth's Chris handling crowds with ease and don't recall ever waiting long in the past. My husband didn't mind as he just ordered more drinks! Since I was driving and therefore not drinking much, the wait seemed much longer to me... My only real disappointment was that there was hardly an acknowledgement of my husband's birthday. The waiter did ask if this was an occasion and wished my husband happy birthday, but in the past, when I indicated it was a special occasion when making the reservation, the table had little decorations on it and a card too. The waiters used to come out with a piece of cake nicely plated and acknowledge the birthday. Guess those days are gone and I felt it."

"Let me start by saying the food saved this review from being 2 stars. I was alone for dinner, so since this Ruth's Cris was connected to our hotel, and I had not eaten at a Ruth's Cris in almost 20 years, I decided to splurge and have a good steak dinner. I chose to sit at the bar so as not to take up a table. The bar was fairly busy with patrons when I arrived, but after 10 minutes it decreased to about a 1/3 full. I ordered a glass of red wine, the wedge salad, and the classic filet, medium-rare. The wine and salad arrived in a reasonable amount of time and both were good. The lettuce was okay; the bleu cheese crumbles+dressing and bacon crumbles elevated it to good. My filet took awhile to arrive. When it did, it was closer to medium-well than medium-rare. For the first time in my life, I sent the steak back. Another ~15 minutes went by and the manager himself delivered my steak, take 2. This one was properly cooked: medium-rare, and it very good. A while after I finished 1 of the 3 bartenders asked if I was done, and I asked for a dessert menu. I opted for the cheesecake with berries. Another ~15 minutes went by and it arrived. The cheesecake was probably the best part of the whole meal, but I don't know why it took almost 15 minutes to bring it to me unless they had to make it from scratch. There did not seem to be a lack of wait staff, the ones at the bar appeared experienced, the restaurant was ~1/2 full, so I can only guess the cooking staff was the issue. I say that because I heard a table near the bar had an issue with their food, and the manager had to come out to another couple at the bar and smooth them over for their experience. As I said, the food was good and it saved this review from being 2-stars. The staff attentiveness was sporadic, and neither the bar nor the tables were more than 1/2 full while I was there. Atmosphere is upscale steak house: if you've been to a Ruth's Chris before, you know what to expect. So all in all, I will keep my future visits to high-end/high-priced steak houses to other venues. Feel free to give this Ruth's Chris a try for the food, but don't have plans to be anywhere after dinner because you could be here awhile."
