"First things first: Happy hour is where it's at. I was trying to decide between 3 and 4 stars (the consensus according to the aggregated Yelp rating) and decided to give 4 stars because of the HH pricing. 3 rolls plus an appetizer for $35 is hard to beat. Coming from CA, my wife and I have been trying various sushi restaurants looking for the best balance between price and quality. Izumi's happy hour is a pretty good contender. We got there at 5:45pm (HH is 4-6), but our waitress was great and let us know that we should pick what we wanted so that we could get our order in before HH ended. We ended up choosing the Albacore Delight, the Crunchy Monster, and the Go Duck rolls with Agedashi Tofu as our appetizer. Agedashi Tofu is one of our favorite appetizers, and Izumi's didn't disappoint. The potato starch batter was just crunchy enough, and the sauce soaked in perfectly. Personally, I wish they had added a little bit more of the fried fish flakes on top, but that's mostly a me thing. 5/5The fish and rolls are fairly good, but nothing outrageous. I'm sure that the chefs had a rush at the end of HH, so I'm willing to let it slide. The tempura shrimp in the Go Duck roll wasn't as fresh as it could have been, so the batter wasn't crunchy. The avocado, tuna, and salmon on top were good, but couldn't compensate for the lackluster tempura. 3/5The Crunchy Monster surprised us, since it was only 5 pieces. It might have been indicated on the menu, but I didn't notice. It lived up to its name, though. This roll was thick and the crunchy topping was great. I probably would have given this a 4/5 if there had been more than 5 pieces. 3.5/5The Albacore Delight roll was the best of the three. I'm not a huge albacore fan, but the fish was fresh and the flavors melded together nicely. 4.5/5 Of the three rolls, this is the only one I'd order again. Although the first two rolls were fine, I'd rather try some of their other rolls."

"Our server, Brook, took our order in a timely manner. We requested our drinks without ice, and while she got mine right, my husband's drink came with a full glass of ice. She promptly took it back to fix it. During our meal, she checked on us only once after bringing our food. When we asked for the bill, we also requested the military discount. We paid with a gift card and $20 cash to cover the remaining balance. However, when she returned with our change, she only brought two $5 bills, while our expected change was $10.55. Noticing the discrepancy, we asked another waitress in the area to call Brook back to our table. When Brook arrived, the other waitress was still present. Upon explaining that we were expecting the additional 55 cents, Brook reacted defensively, questioning why we wanted the small amount while standing right in front of us. In hindsight, we should have involved the manager at that moment. It felt as though she had taken the 55 cents from us. According to our receipt, she should have returned the full amount of change and allowed us the option to let her keep it. Initially, we intended to leave an $11 tip; however, after discovering the incorrect change and experiencing her attitude, we reduced our tip to $1.55. We have since addressed this issue with the manager. Having worked in the service industry myself, I understand how challenging it can be, and I usually tip well. However, I have always ensured to return the correct change to customers. In my opinion, failing to do so would amount to taking from the customer."
