"Not a good experience. Waitress was very rough around the edges . (Slim lady on duty around 6:30 pm Sunday . 2/26/2023). She does not have proper etiquette, barks at you when she speaks and comes across as rude (although I don 't think she INTENDS to be rude, she just doesn 't seem to know how to speak nicely to customers). My roast chicken was bland (no flavor) and I have no idea what this concoction is (see pic attached). It was supposed to be a side of some zucchini dish, but it looks like dog vomit. On top of all of this they charge you about an extra 4% for using your credit or debit card when you check out! I will NOT be back to this diner."

"My wife had been wanting to go to this restaurant for a while. Since it was New Years Eve decided that this would be a great time to go. I was kind of expecting not to get a table since it was New Years Eve but was pleasantly surprised we got in. Decided to look at reviews to see what other people said and decide after it was all over wether they were right or wrong. Parking was ample. Once we were inside the noise level is outrageous. It is a small area and tables are very close together. We had the unfortunate opportunity to sit next to a party of eight and they were having a great time. So much in fact, I could not hear my wife who was across from me. I suspect ice must be a novility for water glasses. Besides getting a little glass , I had to ask twice for ice. Finally I got it. Of course bread and butter are not given out without asking for it. The bread is not made there, possibly the local grocery store supplies it. We ordered and here I was very impressed. My bison dinner was very good, the meat fell of the bone, it was so tender. My wife had lamb and it too was delicious. Bring a history buff and not from this area, the portrait of people from the area was interesting. There was some background on them as well. I would not mind going back but the noise and lack of fundamental service might prevent us from returning, especially if there are other places to explore for the first time. I do hope they will do what us required to improve the high level of noise and the closeness if all the tables."

"I have a breakfast sandwich with only egg, vegan cheese and impossible sausage on an English muffin. it tasted like fast food in the best way - so nostalgic and so delicious. I got the home potatoes on the side that were slightly dirty, but nothing a little salt and ketchup could not repair. the donuts were also so good, but slightly expensive! good selection of flavors and super unique!! For the second time I have the hungry vegan, that is 2 MASSIVE pancakes, toast, tofu scramble, vegan bacon, and potatoes. Pancakes (forget to take a pick and potatoes became delish. Toast was toast. the tofu scramble was honestly very bland. no good texture and it tasted only slightly like onions. the bacon was the yummiest vegan bacon I had ever tasted, but I wish it was crispy! the coffee was nice and delicious also: Updated from the previous review on 2022-09-08"

"My family has always been a fan of the restaurant. My mom, sister, and I went the other day, but we've been going for years. We've gone before my other sister moved away, and we would go after my dad got out of the hospital from treatment. The food is good (I wouldn't say the best in Rochester), the atmosphere is nice (plenty of families and young adults), and the pace is quick (they turn tables, but aren't pushing you out). For the price, the food is awesome. I had the italian breakfast the last time I went. It was the first time I got it, and it won't be the last! It's a convenient location, just off 390 on Monroe Ave. If you can make it, I highly recommend it!"

"Gluten Free Friendly they understand what gluten is, and are accomodating. They don't offer anything exclusively gluten free. That said, the food is awesome, and I will totally eat here again! Definitely one of the best breakfasts I have eaten in a restaraunt in a long time."

"My son wanted breakfast for lunch so we came here for our very first time. Everyone was very friendly. Food came out in a timely manner. My son really enjoyed his bacon, eggs, and potatoes. My meal was pretty good--however, it was too greasy for me. I saved half of my meal and gave it to my 18 year old daughter who was at home. She could not finish it, because she thought the same thing. I got the shredded hash, eggs, veggies, mozarella cheese (I picked off the cheese since I am lactose intolerant) and biscuit. The biscuit was delicious--my favorite."

"Have been here three times, will not be back and do not recommend. Floor is often dirty and food is good but does not sit well. The worst part about this place is the service. The wait staff is great but the guy who seats everyone is terrible. He often seats his regular customers ahead of other guests who have been waiting much longer. He has said he's been doing the job for 37 years so it's very disappointing he hasn't learned how to treat all of his patrons fairly.Have seen this same comment on other reviews where the owner replied with a comment about using a list and everyone going in order but that is not true. We called his attention to the fact that he seated others ahead of us and he lied flat out about what he did. We saw him and his favorite customers sneaking around to get their party seated. Very poor morals with this guy!Regarding your reply at least have the decency to admit your mistakes."

"My husband ordered a 1-1-1 with eggs over medium. Our breakfast arrived promptly. He started buttering it when he realized the pancake was raw inside. He let the waitress know and she took the plate back. She brought his plate back with the same pancake on it. Cooked more but mushy from the butter and the egg was cold. My husband asked to speak to the manager. She came over and he began telling her about the pancake. To our utter disbelief she began to talk about how the storm (Ian) was to blame. I realize the storm affected everyone in different ways. We have found ourselves homeless. But to blame the storm for not doing what was right?"

"At about 10:45Am on Sunday 8/14/2022, my husband and I sat down for breakfast. We were courteous and we even tipped because it is not the waitress fault. The food was cold and false advertising. We will not return! In fact, we had to go somewhere else toeat because, we left the restaurant still hungry. Going forward, we will continue to go to Rise N Shine and, Indy's FamousPancake House Grill! We know our beef, especially steak! My husband ordered a 10oz Ribeye but what he received was a 6ozRound steak. It was fatty, flat, and small! The manager did compliment the steak meal. I ordered the Red Velvet French Toast. My food was cold! Proving that the food was cold, the plates were barely warm and my butter never melted on the food. Iforced myself to take a few bites because I was looking forward to the meal. However, I couldn't finish it. I only ate about1/4 of it. Even my eggs were cold!"

"I visited this restaurant hoping for a hearty breakfast, but my experience left much to be desired. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a somewhat unfriendly person, who turned out to be the owner. We sat ourselves as instructed and waited at least five minutes for a menu. During this time, the owner spent about ten minutes chatting with regular customers at a nearby table while we waited to place our order. I was particularly eager for coffee, but it took quite a while to get anything. There was also a concerning situation outside, where a possibly homeless individual with a dog lingered nearby. When they eventually moved on, it was hard to ignore the urine-stained area where we had chosen to eat outside. A note to anyone considering this restaurant: dining indoors might be a better option. As for the food, it was disappointing; much of it seemed undercooked, yet it was smothered in cheese sauce. Ultimately, we left feeling unsatisfied and hungry."

"I just made a special trip here on June 26, 2024 after reading all the great reviews here. It is now the Black Cat Diner, no indication it was recently Deb's Diner (except the Deb's Diner t-shirt the cook was wearing). I have no idea when it changed hands. I was the only customer in there at 6:30am. After being handed a crinkled dirty plain paper menu, I ordered plain scrambled eggs, figuring those couldn't be too bad. But after going to use the filthy dark scary basement restroom where I saw the food storage bins right nearby, I came back upstairs, cancelled my order and asked for the coffee to go. When the waitress said it was $3.45, I said I am not paying that much for a coffee and I walked out. What a horrid experience."

"We are regulars there, this is my first review, First the food is awesome and there is plenty of it and for the price you can not beat it. Just a suggestion If you have hungry teens and going for breakfast or lunch this is the place to fill their tummies, Service is great and very personable, if you leave without a take out box I would be amazed. Meat lovers skillet is my favorite, Or the country fried steak skillet, But it is all very good, Love the split pea soup and croutons. yes under new management but still same family, quality and quantity has not gone away, Just try it you'll like it.
