"The centerpiece of the meal was undoubtedly the grilled sandwich. From the very first bite, it was clear that the chefs emphasize high-quality ingredients and skillful preparation. The sandwich was a delightful balance of textures and flavors, showcasing a level of culinary expertise that distinguished it from the usual fare. Paired with the sandwich were French fries generously doused in brown gravy—an indulgent treat that enhanced the entire meal. The combination of crisp fries and rich gravy was a pleasant surprise, adding an extra layer of comfort. The attention to detail extended to the drink selection, especially the coffee. For coffee lovers, the brew at Palace Restaurant is a genuine pleasure. It was rich, strong, and skillfully made, perfectly complementing the food. It's evident that the restaurant takes pride in creating a holistic dining experience right down to the last sip. The warmth and attentiveness of the staff also stood out. The friendly atmosphere and my server’s attentive service greatly enhanced the overall enjoyment of the meal. The courtesy and promptness of the staff contribute to a welcoming setting where guests are made to feel right at home. In summary, Palace Restaurant at 122 E 57th St is a must-visit for anyone seeking a culinary refuge in the heart of New York City. "I wish I had taken the time to write a review previously. We have come here quite a few times and used to enjoy it. Today, after a longer break, it was an absolute disappointment. 1. Service: it took a long time to get seen and seated but the manager was the best of staff we saw. We have a child with a disability, so when we go out, we like to sit outside, to have space and minimize risk of disrupting fellow diners. We chose to sit outside and they failed to offer us one of the working heaters until we carted one across the veranda ourselves because kid 2 started to get blue lips. Service was VERY slow. It took a long time to see actual food. When I asked if we could have a handful of more chips to finish our guacamole, it was denied and then not mentioned again. I chose a salad with SHREDDED chicken and when, after a long time my food arrived, I was handed a salad with big chunks of dry chicken. When I asked our waiter whether it was supposed to shredded (IT SAYS SHREDDED ON THE MENU), he just yelled NO!! And then didn't follow it up with any other comment. It was so random and unfriendly, I'm still trying to shake the feeling that they didn't like us for whatever reason. 2. Food: HORRIBLE. Thin tortilla chips as a starter you should look through. The chicken we were served was dry and so rubbery and chewy that I didn't even want to take it home. A side of strawberries for the kids was absolutely mushed. Penne in marinara was a tiny cup of microwaved pasta and they charged us $2 extra for a tiny cup of strawberry mush. When I asked if kid 1 could have strawberries, too, out came another cup of mush. Oh yeah, and my husband's pasta plate had a stain on it. 3. Cheque: there were some random surcharges. I believe we were charged 1$ for the kids tap water and then we had 2 bananas on there for a dollar each. The waiter dropped the card reader at our table and when I tried to ask him about these surcharges, he disappeared. After a few minutes, I took it inside but the lady at the counter could work on it, so our waiter had to be called back. I grabbed a menu to show him that my chicken should indeed have been shredded and he just huffed and puffed an apology out and hovered long enough over my shoulder to check what I was tipping. I'm usually on the side of staff and I like to tip well and eat rubbish food if staff is nice but this was the first time ever that I didn't want to tip. (Not) surprisingly, when I put no tip, the bill jumped up an additional $3. Marmalade Cafe today was an absolute disappointment. It has gone way downhill and service and food were awful. On a side note, the waiter gave our disabled kid a side eye, so maybe he had a problem that we were out and about having a nice time. Not worth the money and shoddy treatment. There are plenty of wonderful restaurants around who love our business."

"This was my first time walking into this café. It has been on my radar for sometime too. After a food shopping trip, I walk in with my loaded shopping cart into a pretty empty café. It looks cute and simple at a glance. There were no other customers, just two waitresses and the cook in the back. The two waitresses were caught in conversation on the side, but I still said hello as I entered. No response. I thought maybe they didn't hear me, but they definitely saw me enter. I thought it more odd that neither one greeted me. I parked my wagon, helped myself to a menu from the counter since they were still talking, and just briefly looked through it. Only when I walked up to the counter did one of the waitresses go behind the counter to take my order. I asked to confirm if they had chicken tenders and fries, she confirmed. I asked how much and she said $12 and some amount of change. I then asked about the price of the mushroom and Swiss burger with fries, she told me. Perhaps my next sentence confused her, but she thought I was ordering both, to which I said no, I'm just trying to pick between one or the other. She said okay and tended to a woman who entered and ordered a coffee I believe. I also noticed some man had a nice breakfast spread at the first table (I guess he ordered before I got there and came back . Granted, I was still at the counter debating so I was taking up space, so when the waitress made a gesture and addressed me as ma'am or excused me (I forgot what she said , but I understood that I was in the way. I moved over, told her I wanted the chicken tenders and fries. I paid via tap pay, and just waited by my wagon. I figured it would take up to ten minutes. Now I did notice something as I waited. There was another review I read that pointed this out too. The waitresses did resume their side conversation. However, I couldn't help but notice they seemed more lively after a small group of two or three Hispanic women walked in. Probably middle aged. I'm not fluent in the Spanish language though I am still learning, so I can pick up on a few words. The conversation just sounded familial and friendly, perhaps they were regulars. Regardless if they were regulars or not, any person who walks into a dining environment should feel welcomed as they are greeted. I probably should have just done a 180 degree turn after I first walked in and wasn't greeted. Last thing I'll say, about the food itself, it was adequate, nothing special. Just a typical chicken tender and fries. Just the portions were small in my opinion. The tenders were small, about the size of 4 inches in length, 2 in width. There were 4 of them. The fries were okay, that portion was also small, literally a handful of fries. Needless to say I don't think it was worth $12 and change. Perhaps the burger would have been more satisfying. In conclusion, for a first time visit, I'll keep a note to myself that I should have just gone to the Dale Diner up the block instead. (I do not see myself returning here nor do I recommend it...unless you're Hispanic I guess Service: Takeaway Price per person: $10–20 Food: 2 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 2"

"Best Deli Food. Period.. OK, I am a fan of Art's, have been for years. Art's Deli in Studio City is a 1 hour drive for my friends and I. It is well worth it. We come from different parts of So Cal ... the OC, South LA, Inland Empire, and High Desert to meet at Art's for lunch. We come to enjoy the great food, the family atmosphere, and each others company. Family atmosphere because we are treated like family by Art's family ... and the servers.<br/ <br/ As for the food, I invariably get pastrami on rye, though friends try other items. Being an ex-NY'er, I feel qualified to say that Art's pastrami on rye is the best this side of the Hudson. I don't understand others' complaints that it is a basic sandwich, just meat and bread? That IS what is served in NY deli's, no garnishings taking away from the taste of the meat and bread and deli mustard. That is what makes a delicious NY deli sandwich. If you want lettuce, tomato, cheese, or other ... ask for it. In NY City, those are not part of a pastrami, corned beef, roast beef, or other meat-type deli sandwich. Art's sandwiches are big, piled high with meat ... NY style. If you don't want NY style .. go to The Hat for their tasteless pastrami.<br/ <br/ We make the 1 hour drive because we love the food ... and Art, Mrs Art, Roberta, and Harold. Did I mention that Art's IS true NY kosher Deli style through and through!<br/ <br/ And if you want a true NY treat ... try a Chocolate Egg Cream, a fountain drink made to true NY specifications."
