"I would recommend with a codicil. The Palace Arms has long been one of my favorite restaurants in the world. In a hotel that is over a century old you would expect changes as it is the nature of the world. If you are looking for days of old when dapper Maitre D shows you in to a luxurious room, with black tie waiters then this is no longer the Palace Arms you remember or I remember as well. In an age where things have become more casual, so has this impressive restaurant. Our hostess was a gothically dressed lovely human and our servers where not in the crisp uniforms of old. They were friendly, kind, and perfunctory, but to my opinion, it was not the service you expect from a restaurant of that caliper, or live up to the history of that room. The room itself has been modified as well with tables where the big luxurious booths have been replaced with tables and stand alone chairs , while the definitely are more functional, they also have squeezed in more tables which initially made us feel a bit cramped. More so the furniture does not match the historic nature of the room, or the luxury of the room for that matter, a higher quality of table would have served them better. All of that said , that is where i would quantify recommending it to a friend. The experience is definitely diminished , however the food was outstanding, the one constant I found was that the meal was superb. So it is pricey, the service is adequate with high notes, our table side Ceasar was amazing, but we sure missed the bananas foster. If I had never been there I would have found it very good , but I do wonder with so many of the corners cut, if it will fall prey to an expensive hotel restaurant which would be a shame as all the pieces are still there, for the amazing experience the Palace arms has a reputation for"
