"We were greeted by our server bill who seemed dismissive and disinterested from the get-go. half of the glasses on the table had water in them and the rest of us had to wait a staggering 40 minutes for us to receive a glass of water after being seated, and once we had it, there were no refills throughout our two-hour party. This lack of basic attention to service was frustrating and left us feeling neglected. Our server bill was rude and clearly didn’t put any effort into making our experience enjoyable. We were a larger party so gratuity was automatically granted so it seems he thought he didn 't have to work for his money. To make matters worse, when the food arrived, it was lukewarm and bland. Given the service issues, it’s no surprise that the food didn’t meet any expectations. We had hoped for a pleasant meal but instead left feeling unsatisfied and irritated. One of the plates were even sent out incomplete...not sure how no one caught this but this should no be presented as steak and eggs It was nice that Larkins was able to accommodate such a large party, but from the rude host, the careless server, and mediocre food...we will not be back."

"First of all excellent service !!! The waiter was amazing with checking in on us etc? On the other hand the food was perfect! The portions were good and it got me full. Price wise I think it?s affordable depending on what you order. My favorite dessert was the lemon sorbet. It was delicious and it was something that you just wanted more of. Overall I recommend this place to anyone that wants to dine in because it has both an excellent service and amazing food."

"Your food is good, and the quantity and quality are great for the price. However, I had a frustrating experience due to a language barrier. I ordered a family meal, which I requested to include a large container of beans and a small container of stew chicken. Instead, they informed me that it didn’t qualify as a family meal and charged me for everything separately. I was willing to pay the difference, but the way they handled it made it impossible for me. When I got home, I noticed how they sliced the chicken and combined everything. I had to ask for clarification again, and they insisted that I didn’t receive the family meal, which is why they didn’t include the chicken. This whole mix-up occurred because I requested an extra large side of beans and stew chicken. Even though I had already paid $60, I ended up having to pay an additional $20 for the chicken because the staff kept insisting that I hadn’t ordered the family meal. I didn’t intend to pay for chicken I thought would be part of my family order, so I explained that I had already paid for just the chicken. It felt like I had to place the order first, pay for it, and then order separately for any additional items I wanted."

"I started my meal with a Cuba Libre that was impressively strong, while my partner opted for a bottle of Presidente beer. For dinner, I chose the grilled entraña, which is referred to as churrasco here, paired with tostones. I requested it to be cooked medium, although I generally prefer it rarer. However, it arrived well done, a common occurrence, but I wasn't disappointed. The onions were seasoned with something other than lime juice, and the skirt steak had a citrusy flavor that I suspect came from a vinegar-based marinade. This might explain the distinct flavor profile that has puzzled many previous reviewers of El Conde. My partner ordered the oxtail with red beans and white rice as her side dish. Even though she had half of her meal wrapped up to take home, she had no complaints about her dish. We skipped dessert and drinks after dinner, as we were both quite full from our meals."

"What an awesome place. Got there super early on a Sunday for breakfast and had no problem parking right across the street. Beautiful retro diner. Seating is mainly booths with some counter and a few tables. So it is size friendly if you can get a table. The staff was friendly and attentive. Service was quick! The food came out fast and hot. Smoked brisket hash was good, not too smoky. I ordered well done home fries and they were actually crispy and well done. (Not every place listens like that... The biscuits and gravy were some of the best I've had in recent memory. Do not miss those. All in all, a great find. Will be going back because there are so many things we want to try. My advice is get there early as the place fills up fast..."

"A staple of fine dining in Elizabeth since 1989, Valença has served as the premier location for business lunches and Newark Airport layover dinners. The name refers to to Valença, Portugal, not Valencia, Spain. The menu is reflective of Portuguese, Spanish, and American/European influence. The restaurant is quite spacious, and has two entrances. On their side entrance, they offer a take-out and casual dining area, as well as a churrasqueira. The front entrance is where you 'll find the fancier, white table-cloth dining room, which is quite spacious and decorated with chandeliers. Although steak is not a widely popular dish in Portugal, Valenca is most known their 'steak on a stone ' dish. Their shrimp in garlic or their Portuguese chorizo appetizer are excellent places to start. As it 's a local Portuguese restaurant, they get their seafood from a local fish market, and you can 't go wrong with many of their seafood options. They offer a variety of Portuguese wines as well as a house-made sangria. The service is always excellent, and as expected, Valenca is arguably the best Portuguese restaurant and best choice for fine-dining in Elizabeth. They have a parking lot located directly across the street, plus street parking isn 't too hard to find in this area of North Elizabeth."

"We came here for a lunch after a funeral service, the banquet room was nice, some of the staff was friendly some seemed a little bothered. Food was decent except for the beef. "I will join the many others on here who are saying this place has simply gone downhill! I was a customer for over 5 years and things just are not as good as they once were from the service to the quality of the food. I tried to resolve a mistake on my order (that was completley their fault) with the front staff and not only did they tell me there was no manager I could speak with about the issue, but I had left my name and phone number and did not recieve a call from anyone at all and it has been over a weeks time..To be fair they had offered me a voucher for an equal meal but at this point with the service lately and this not being the first mistake paired with the food quality going down, I am no longer a customer at the restaurant, all I was asking for was my money back on an over priced salad that they had made the mistake on."

"we had a new waitress, laekyn, she needs more training. she didn't know much about the beer, she messed up our order. my man didn't get both meats on his fajita. I asked for my steak medium. it came with so much pink, I had to send it back. it wasn't cooked enough when I got it back. She didn't check us much. the door for the disabled entrance brought cold air into the room. I went to the bathroom. it must be updated as well as the next room where we sat. the bathroom had an old drier that didn't work. it must be removed. the kissing on one of the benches has been divided and must be replaced. eating was good what we got, taking out the problems I mentioned. we didn't get another drink or dessert because we didn't want to spend more money. we were already disappointed. we celebrated our jubilee and don't go out much. it was disappointing that when we got the opportunity to go out, our dinner experience was so poor. we had a gift card and they gave us a little discount so we didn't have to pay anymore. "Cute little place! I'd give it 3.5 stars. My friends and I often walk around New York. So when we feel like sitting down for a bite, we do a quick google search for local places. It keeps our taste buds open and ensures we don't eat at the same places every time. This restaurant isn't located on a busy street and it was kind of hidden/quiet which was perfect after our long day. The food was amazing, a bit pricey and the drinks weren't the best (I had a Piña Colada). I watched two other ladies walk up to the bar and complain about their drinks so I didn't feel too bad about not liking mine. The interior is warm and inviting, however I have had better customer service though this IS New York. Would love to know what you think if you go!"
